@Skeletonwitharaygun fuck Hamill..his laugh sucks..everybody is saying Hamill because it's cool not to go with the crowd...but the majority of people like Heath's version the most..also how can people compare cartoon character to the real version?...we should compare Nicholson and Heath...they were both great..Hamill was just the voice..he probably couldn't play The Joker if his life depended on it...
Heath was darkly interesting. While Jack was creepily comedic. While Hamil was devilishly insane. No one sucks here! I LOVE ALL of them!! GO JOKERS!! haha
@Skeletonwitharaygun I didn't delete my comment what are you talking about..his laugh doesn't sound forceful at all...and no I didn't find Ledger attractive at all..but he was amazing as The Joker..and like I said Hamill couldn't play The Joker even if his life depended on it...he was just a voice..what's so great about that..
@Skeletonwitharaygun how is Hamill's Joker more than just a voice? he could be taking shit when he's doing the voice it isn't hard...but hey think what you want I stand by my opinion:)
@Skeletonwitharaygun Isnt it hysterical, we all give our appreciation to a dead man. Yet, when one man is living, the other realizes he is going to die. Its a funny world we live in, yet I dont see why your not laughing. A decrepit old fool, whos obsessed with an overrated L.A. team, waiting to die. A man in mid-life, hating and loving his life every second, and a man who is already dead. Did he die happy, why he should. The Joker has left him smiling, and no BLONDE KNIGHT! can replace that.
@Skeletonwitharaygun There is no life without death, that is why every time you wake up you are fearing death. Think of it as a running gag! HaHaHa! You, and the rest of you will never escape life, you will all DIE. Then, as soon as they let down your coffin, I hope some one tells a joke. Otherwise, your funeral will go off with a BANG! Now, you wouldnt want that would you? Especially in todays world? Hahahahahaha!!!!!
@bees920 He didnt kill himself, "The Joker" did. Or, was it the "MJ" doctor? The ghost of Khovorkian? Hahah. Whoever he or it was, it sure got him!!! Hahahaha!
I like how the Hamil and Ledger seem to have built their voices off of Nicholson's interpretation.
You can really hear elements in Jack's voice that Mark emulated and transformed into that Hyena like laugh of his at 1:27. And then Ledger seemed to have the dark seriousness to his voice that seems akin to how Nicholson's Jack Napier talked before he became The Joker, only getting that high quality like Hamill's when he laughs. A nice evlution of the voice and character.
@TheBirthfan I'll also add that I think Ledger's harshest "Why so serious?" sounds a lot like Nicholson's"You set me up over a woman. A WOMAN! You must be insane". I also notice an uncanny resemblance of The Dark Knight Joker, at least in overall theme and looks, to The Penguin from Batman Returns, like they could belong in the same universe.
Heath was definitely the darkest, while Jack was very much a comic book character. Mark was the very embodiment of what I always believed the Joker to be. Sadistic, cartoony, horrifyingly crazy, so on and so forth.
The Joker... one of the most demented, sickest, twisted villains out there. Why? For one thing, he kills people for FUN. He finds it funny. Like it's a joke (hence the name Joker). I mean he really enjoys himself doing it. He gets creative in murder with his deadly gag gifts. Another reason is because he looks like a scary demented clown. That huge grin and mean, evil eyes. And that laugh. That's why the Joker is one of my favorite villains of all time. He's just so awesome! =D
I like them all but Ledger's laugh actually sounds closer to Hamill's to a degree, if you really sit and think about it. There are rare times it actually sounds very similar, depending on how hard he laughs. Hamill's laugh is definitely the most haunting and creepy, but Ledger's is pretty up there too. Nicholson's was classic :P.
All 3 are great in there own way. Nicholson had more of the comic book adaptation and did the role great. Heath Ledger's was more of a dark revamp but was still great. Mark Hamill honestly...is The Joker. No one can make him sound just sadistic as hell one second then laughing like a loon the next. perfect example is Batman Beyond movie where The Joker is taunting Batman and explaining how he warped Robins mind to make a mini Joker. If you want just bad...look at Ceasar Romaro.....from the 60s
i'm going to have to go with ledger his laugh is def the most evil, deceiving and creepy sounding. I just wanna punch someone in the face when i hear hamill laugh and Nicholson is just plain bad.
In terms of animation, Hamills is the default and best joker. In theatrical terms, Heath takes the win due to his amazing performance and how he added a dash of Hamill's style to his laugh. Don't get me wrong, Jack is great but doesn't give you that bone chilling feel down your spine like Heath Joker.
C'mon guys, in voice can't be any doubt, Mark Hamil is the Joker for default, he is impossible to beat, Ledger and Nicholson made two incredible Jokers too in both different perspective and sides, but when i come to select the best Joker ever, no one beat Hamil Joker.
That's just my opinion. I grew up with Hamil's voice as the Joker, Heath was incredible, so obviously I don't prefer Nicholson's Joker as much as the others.
my ranking is hamill nicholson and ledger. hamill imo was what the joker was meant to be. he had the perfect balance of insane, genius, and villainous. nick got the genius and villain parts perfect, but i think the insane part was played off to be a more comical joker (something hamill managed to do with his combination of all three traits). and then there's ledger, i believe he was played more to the insane side and a more realistic villain. something that would be a product of today's world.
im sry mark hamill without a doubt i remember that laugh since my child hood. I do wish they had heath ledger laugh way more i felt like it wasnt enough and jack nicholson i thought was the best for that role at the time but mark hamill has the joker laugh without a doubt. I would be terrified to hear that laugh walking down a dark alley holyshit!

Ledger's portrayal of joker was aimed for being a plain-insane villian, while Nicholson's was trying to look scary as can be...and i didn't like the cartoon shit, not even the laugh..idk why but i just didn't think the Hamill laugh was worth the role of joker...for me it was #1 Ledger #2 Nicholson and i won't even count Hamill, just my opinion.
@StreetsOfSonic i don't..i just thought he sounded stupid as the joker, Ledger's was how you think the Joker would sound, and like i said, Nicholson made kids shit themselves Lol
@aweomae Hamill still managed to make something that I found quite difficult. He was able to laugh in such ways, that you could feel when he was "happy" laughing, "menacing" laughing and even "nervous" laughing... and everyone of them sound insane enough.
As for the real Joker... there's no such thing as a "best performance". All are great. Since he's the insanity of society (or so could been seen), depends on how you see society. I think.
@aweomae No problem. Everyone has their right to like or not like, as to share or not share points of view. And I also enjoyed a great deal the Ledger performance.
@elroid yeah i can understand what you mean about the Hamill laugh, it was a damn good evil laugh but all i'm saying is i didn't think it fit the Joker..Ledger's, in my opinion, fit like a glove.
@aweomae Ledger doesn't have a decent joker laugh or acting, i mean, his acting was not like the joker, as he made a maniac, but a diferent maniac of what the joker is, and nicholson just made the authentic joker. As jokers, NIcholson is better, as maniacs, i kinda doubt
@StreetsOfSonic seriously?, ledger had a superb acting of a maniac killer that planned stuff, i'm not denying that, but he was not the joker, i mean, he could just not be named "the joker" and he would have been a superb villian, unluckly they've put him in a role that wasn't the joker, i'm not saying that he could not have made a great joker, i'm saying that the director didn't give him an oportunity
@ulurius WTF?! Ledger was the perfect Joker! his acting was fuckin superb and his laugh was so perfect it aint funny..and the Joker is a maniac, just a smart one, the dark knight gave a more realistic view of what a real life joker would be like..i never saw Nicholson's full movie and i don't doubt he was superb as well, but i prefer Ledger.
@aweomae the joker is the joker, you cannot make it more "realistic" as you are not in a realistic role, as you are in an unrealistic story from the very begining, which is good, but must not be confused with realism in any way. I didn't say his acting was not good, i'm not saying he couldn't act as the joker, but he did not portrait the joker, he was just any smart maniac, and not the joker. On the other hand, nicholson made the perfect joker, despite not looking like the joker at all.
@ulurius you can make it as realistic as you like, no matter if the story is impossible or not you can make it realistic which is what Ledger gave to the joker. More realism, not complete realism, but a great deal more..Nicholson was great, from what i've seen, but i hear his joker acts kind of stupid..and Ledger's acted as if a real life criminal of this sort would probably act, he wasn't just an idiot, he had reason behind his crime.
@aweomae what i'm saying is that they shouldn't have named him the joker, as the joker is diferent, it would be like a batman that made jokes and was smiling at all times(kinda like spidey), it is not the acting, it is the new character they made, it's like a ridiculous thing to change a character so much, why was the joker wearing makeup?, why didn't he have any of the typical joker weapons and just used knives and ordinary guns?, that's what screwed the new joker
@ulurius Its Nolan's Joker. Its not comics Joker(that would probably Nicholson's, even though Batman 89 didnt stick too much to the comics to begin with, aside from the influence by the story The Killing Joke). Nolan's Joker was doing its best to stick true to the character. Joker's refusal to kill Batman, his personal belief that everyone in the world is insane, Joker tormenting Gordon & Dent etc.
@Aborza123 See, as i try to analise the situation as an objective person, you are as mature as to tell me that i'm an idiot and not prove me wrong, that is just sad
Huh? A lot of Jack's laughs felt forced. Some were really good. But Ledger's were maniacal and flat out unsettling. How exactly do you figure Ledger "shouldn't even be in this list?" In fact... what the hell does even mean???
mainly the reason I put Mark H. 2nd was cause his laugh was kind a normal evil laugh where heath's was like you'd imagine the joker's laugh to be like
It's realy hard to choose. All three has a pretty scary laugh. I'll put Mark Hamill at 1st place. Because you know... it's Mark Hamill. : ) The very first scary clown of my childhood.
@StreetsOfSonic lol welp i dont like the cartoon so much and welp i do think mark has the longest laph and an ok one and nicholson has a loud one so.........and i just like ledgers
It's 2012 and people are still ranting over which Joker is better?!?! Wooooooww They're all great, so where's the problem?

@Aborza123 See, as i try to analise the situation as an objective person, you are as mature as to tell me that i'm an idiot and not prove me wrong, that is just sad

mar hamill n'est seulement le meilleur jedi, il est aussi le meilleur joker. Dommage qu'il n'avait le physique type.

a lot of nicholsens sound forced out
feedbackrichie 6 months ago
Mark Hamil is the best laugh, it´s full of "Force", you know what I mean? Ledger shouldn´t even be included in this. Nicholson is 2nd.

@MoneyAvalanche
Huh? A lot of Jack's laughs felt forced. Some were really good. But Ledger's were maniacal and flat out unsettling. How exactly do you figure Ledger "shouldn't even be in this list?" In fact... what the hell does even mean???

@MoneyAvalanche Heath's Joker shits on those two...

#1 Ledger
#2 Mark.H
#3 Nicholson
mainly the reason I put Mark H. 2nd was cause his laugh was kind a normal evil laugh where heath's was like you'd imagine the joker's laugh to be like

@hkrogers
LOL. Hamill's laughing was "normal?" I don't even know how to respond to that...

It's realy hard to choose. All three has a pretty scary laugh. I'll put Mark Hamill at 1st place. Because you know... it's Mark Hamill. : ) The very first scary clown of my childhood.
