The reason they made the no leg grab rule is wrestler from turkey and other near/middle east country owning in the olympics by repeatedly going for single and double legs. Since no time was allowed for ground work and neck cranks are illegal, there was no real "weak" point in this strategy. It's also to further differenciate judo and wrestling at the olympics to ensure judo stays there.

BJJ has absolutely nothing to do with it.

It depends...if it is the traditional judo then yes because you will be taking your opponent to the ground and you will be able to choke him out there. Or if your opponent does gets you to the ground you can defend yourself with guard attacks. But if it is not the traditional Judo all you would know is to take your opponent down and that is it.

Deffinately! I have used it a couple of times when confronted by a big aggresive dude. he never saw it coming! you pretend like trying to talk your way out of it and then suddenly you make an explosive move and jump into him and slam him to the ground! then if that isnt enough just choke or arm lock from there. worked with the throw for me:-)

Of course they are, everything that is legal in judo is legal in BJJ

BJJ competitions, pretty much anything is legal. You start from your feet, how you get to the ground is up to you, but you get points for a dominant take down. Alot of BJJ like to enter Judo competitions because even if they get taken down it's normally only 1/2 or 1/4 point, then BJJ submit for a full point.
