  • And me to

  • tryed this on my car, all the socket did was spin on the wheel lock. had to bring it to the dealer :(

  • Yes ... Thanks worked for me

  • @clouxles Cool man, good to hear.

  • What happens if the screw is completely broken off. How can I replace that part of the wheel?

  • You can wrap the socket in a thick rag, tie a knot and throw it at the ground, the shock should dislodge the nut, and it helps stop you ruining your socket.

  • WOW thats rocket science mate....... now get the nut out of the socket ..pillock

  • @MrB3nyy

Actually 'Pillock', he did explain in plain English what you have to do to remove the nut from the socket. And no, it's not rocket science.............. .it'scommon sense, skill and experience.

  • My security wheel nut was put on by Wal Mart without finger tightening 1st when they put new tires on a yr ago. When I went to take it offto change brake pads the actual nut (NOT lug stuf) broke into pieces and is now stuck in the wheel so I can't get the wheel off. What now?

  • @mykulc Sorry, didn't really get what has happened from your explanation, post a video showing the problem, maybe myself or another user can suggest a way to solve it. Cheers H

  • @pussaliah lol you my good sir are the idiot here. It was a joke no need for harsh language...

  • thanks to your vid someone stole my 1200 dollar rims....

  • @DjFreshmatic Did they leave a note with a link to my vid ?

  • @egokart yep......

  • @DjFreshmatic STFU pal, its called insurance (dont blame your problems on someone you dont even know)

  • @dreadnought1275 it's a fucking joke...

  • @DjFreshmatic if they want it bad enough they are going to get it no matter what kind of security it has. Any resourceful person with half a brain could figure this out on their own anyways.

  • @emutiny I don't know if you've seen my other comments... but I was just joking..

  • my mcgard wheel lock socket stripped. wtf. they strip to easily.

  • ok now i want to use my 24mm socket oh.. crap i have a tamper proof wheel nut in it :(

  • you made my day. it worked just like you said. thank you very much. you ROCK !!

  • Your a life saver, a $5 12 point socket from home depot fit on my broken wheel lock. I had no clue what I was gonna do before I saw the vid, make sure it's 12 point and it's the right size. Took no more than a few min - THANKS!

  • @SimX9000 Good stuff, glad it worked. Good point there on the 12 point socket! Wouldn't work so well with the regular type! Cheers

  • @SimX9000 is the socket the same size as the other nuts or bit bigger? stuck with a car im breaking and it cant be moved as it just a shell lol

  • Tried it, but it wouldn't budge D:

  • @cameronrader92 Sounds like you need a length of pipe to put on the back of your breaker bar. You can lift the world with a long enough bar.

  • @egokart Actually I think I just tried a wrench and socket. Do you know where to get a breaker bar and how much they cost?

  • got this from eric the car guy

    lol

  • Not sure who eric the car guy is.

  • Posted this after I figured out how to do it in Oct 2008

  • Cheers pal this helped me loads when I got a puncture, Dont listen to those fools claiming your showing criminals how to rob wheels.

  • @jasonf81 Awesome, glad I could help. Unfortunately I tried just about everything else including a hammer and chisel before this plan occurred to me! - Hein

  • Yeah, it's possible that the socket could split, but if you pick one that is only a very slight interference fit you should be fine. You'd probably also do better with a hexagonal socket rather than the multi-fit type.

  • A lot of sockets like that would just split down the side.

  • It's called a breakerbar!!! a 1/2 inch breaker bar at home depot

  • Also called a flex handle. You can get them anywhere.

  • yeah man it worked for me thanx :D

  • Smart

  • Thanks for this video! I just needed this! The wheelnut thread on one of my wheels is badly damaged! I'm off to try it out!

Also an advice for people using this technique I've read on the internet: make sure you tighten much the other three nuts to put less pressure on the locking wheel bolt.

  • thats probably one of the ways they steal wheels.

  • Yes, it's bad how we always cater for the lowest common denominator. It's also a way to legitimately remove rubbish stripped security wheel nuts from your car.

  • Thanks, i'm off to steal some wheels... Yay

  • Good luck with that, hope your cell-mate thinks you have a pretty mouth.

  • @egokart good one egokart lol

  • thanks im gonna try it on my car now ;) ill brb with the results lol

  • well did it work....

  • Hahahaha, havent got the results yet ^^,

  • thats what she said

  • egokart,

excellent video. I started by buying the proper tool and got one lug nut off it took 8 hours of hammering / chiseling / grinding / scraping knuckles / being bit by a hornet!! ......... and I was not successful in removing the first nut from the "proper tool". Using your technique I was successful in getting the other 3 nuts off in 10-15 minutes. Thanks so much.

    Dan

  • My God you are a lifesaver! I bought a truck and did not realize until months later the key for the security lugs was not included.

  • Glad this video helped. I was a bit screwed myself not being able to remove my wheels until I thought of this idea. Cheers

  • you have saved my car sale, thank you sooo much! im such a dumass for not thinking of it myself...nice one!

  • thats kinda what i did but instead my socket wouldnt fit right so i decided to weld my socket too the Lug nut, worked PERFECT!

  • Wow! that is such a good technique, thanks a lot man.

  • Glad I could help, nothing worse than getting stuck beside a road somewhere with a flat tire and not having the removal tool!

  • Wow, this helps, thanks a lot man :)

  • Just what I needed, got the same problem. :(

    Thanks for the vid!

  • Hi John, happy that this information could help. Cheers Hein

  • fantastic job there egokart- you may have helped me with a problem with my old mg midget (locking wheelnut but no tool to remove!)

    cheers, john...
