For last two days, i have been listening to this performance by Abida Parveen, and believe me, i have been continuously listening it for so many times, and every time, i get lost .........its a spell, a trans........ its a spell of Hazrat Sultan Bahu's kalam, and rest ....Abida jee has sung it so beautifully which no other can do..... She is amazing.....no match for her....
..there till so late to meet her. But it was totally worth it and I still think "Agar yeh baghaawat hai, to aisi baghaawat to main har saal karoun gi!" LOL!
Right next to me, there was an Indian couple (lots of Indians were there too) who couldn´t stop rocking their chairs to the music. And behind me, a white guy who looked totally blown out. Also, a whole lotta white older women sitting in front of me. And I had the best seat: row no2, to the edge which allowed me to sneak out of the...
..feels when listening to her music but you have no idea what that becomes when you listen to her LIVE! If you´re a true fan, mark my words and listen to her live at least once in your life. You´ll understand what I mean.
Sorry my posts have gotten so long but as a fan, I just had to tell all of you. That day, when I went for Abida jee´s concert...a lot of funny things happened. And as a "young woman" I still get told off for daring to go to a concert all by myself, and then staying there..
..cared about our great artists and they seemed to be treating her, not luxuriously, but in a respectful and caring manner.
Anyway, when I grew up, I asked mom about that and she confirmed it. It´s actually thanks to her that I grew up listening to Abida jee and understanding her lyrics and music. I´m definitely gonna meet her again insh´Allah, gonna try my best!
My deepest duaas will always be with her, she´s so unique and so genuine. And guys...I know the "Kaihfiyat" one feels...cont.
Cont...was sitting just seats away and me and my sister (too young to recognise and understand stardom) were like "Mama, why are they giving that lady chaae and stuff? We´re hungry too!". And mama said something about her being special but as kids, we didn´t care. The strange thing though is that I still remember her (like a photo) sitting there and there was just this aura, this calm about her that made her "stick" in my mind. And now I´m so glad to know that during that time P.I.A cared...
Cont..And I even got the chance to tell her about how I met her or at least saw her when I was a kid. She listened and then, in her usual humble way, just thanked me for appreciating her music, can you believe it?! I was like.."Hey, you´re the most amazing artist on the planet! You don´t have to thank me, I´m compelled by my soul to listen to you!"
Anyway, so the first time I saw her was on Jinnah International where she was sitting all by herself, without any bodyguards. My family was...
I´m one of the khushnaseeb ones who have met Abida jee twice! Insh´Allah there´ll be more times. I wish I could´ve met Ustad jee too.
Anyway, she´s sooo amazingly humble. Exactly the same as here on screen. We were a couple of ppl...me, two guys and an aunty who waited for her for a long time without knowing if they would let her meet us. This was abroad of Pak. And then when she came out...she actually gave us time to chat with her too mash´Allah. She´s very caring and genuine.
