Do you hate Final Fantasy games particularly, or just "all RPGs of this type" ? Like, for instance, do you love the Dragon Quest or Phantasy Star games ?

I've only recently played to Call of Duty, and only two games (Modern Warfare 1 and 2).

As for Pokemon, at the time of the video, I also had played only two games of the series (Yellow and Silver), since I've also done Heartgold which was enjoyable. Might have been in the list, dunno.

For you to put Mario anything other than number 1 shows how much opinion you let factor into this list. It should say "My top 20 video game franchises" because you don't actually care which are the best.

Well I don't even begin to see how opinion would not matter, in choosing best game franchises...

Now, of course it's "my top 20 video game franchises", did you seriously think that there was an official list ^^ ?

And I care which are the best in my opinion, please don't unvalue it, just because my number one isn't your number one... (which I have to say, is a great series, but comes nowhere close to my #1 and #2, I mean it's great, but it didn't have the same impact as those did).

@shawwr89, you should never need the word "my" to tell that the list is going to be at least partially based on the creator's opinion. When discussing video game quality, objectivity does NOT exist, and anyone who claims it does obviously doesn't understand what "objective" really means.

Even if this list was based on the same specific criteria as other lists, the results could end up vastly different because people are different. It's something you should've learned from school already.

Megaman should be higher. And I know this was about which ones u liked better, but some of these franchises I haven't heard of. Myst, spyro, and madden are some popular franchises. Good list. Good game choices

:), à ce niveau dans la liste, c'est forcément que des séries avec beaucoup d'excellents jeux, et c'est difficile de dire si une série de RPG est meilleur qu'une série de jeux de plate-formes, c'est complètement différent, alors j'ai classé par rapport à ce qui a vraiment rythmé ma vie de gamer dans l'excellence, ce qui est le cas des Final Fantasy, des Mario, des Castlevania, des Zelda, et des Metal Gear, depuis mon plus jeune âge jusqu'à aujourd'hui.

Ace Attorney je connais depuis quelques années, et j'adore, tout autant que les autres séries au top, mais tout comme par exemple God of War qui a maintenant trois opus (note : je n'ai encore joué à aucun God of War ^^), même si j'adorais je ne pourrais pas la mêtre hyper haut à mon avis, car c'est encore assez récent et ne couvrirait qu'une parcelle de mon existence à jouer des jeux vidéos :)

umm, pokemon and half life...............gran turismo, tekken, soul caliber, elder scrolls, total war. Hav u seriously not played at least two games from these franchises?!?! btw u might wanna add them to th description lol :)

Half-Life, yes, but it's complicated (it's 2 games and 2 expansions, we need 3 games), the rest, believe it or not, most of them I only know one title of the series.

In my opinion, EA has the 2 best video games franchises ever : the Battlefield franchise for FPS, and the Command & Conquer franchise for RTS.

I believe Tomb Raider is more sucessful than all of these games. Lara has had two movies. She is far more famous than "Breath of Fire" who most people haven't heard of.

Yeah, actually I haven't played so much Megaman games (I've played the first and the second, I've merely tried the 9th and the first Battle Network, and I've played a few hours Mega Man Zero something), but I loved what I played (most notably the original series of game).

Uh... yeah... I had hours of great time in two players with Streets of Rage. GTA is great, but not my type of game.

It's not because of a differrence of opinion that my video should be worth 1/5, think out of the box...

This is supposed to be your educated opinion on the greatest franchises based on quality, innovation and legacy, taking into account all the preferences of all different types of gamers.

It's totally impossible to make a fair top 10 on VG Series, let alone a top 20, it has to be my opinion (which takes fun I had with the games, but also historical reasons), and if you don't like these videos, please don't waste your time here.

Now, i'm not "mad", I just think that Final Fantasy and Metal Gear brought me far more than GTA. My top is not only based on innovations, but also fun I had playing the games. I like the GTA, but the 17 series that I placed above are in my opinion superior, in those terms.

At the time of the video I hadn't played any DK games but Donkey Kong Land on GB (see on the list in the description, a small amount of the franchises I couldn't include), now I have played Donkey Kong Country 2 and Diddy Kong Racing, and yeah, I'd have had them in the top, for sure.

Oh yeah, Pokemon should definitely be there (it's overall I think far better than the Tomb Raider franchise), now concerning Tales and Ninja Gaiden, I haven't, unfortunately, played enough two games of each franchise to include them in this top (Ninja Gaiden was already in my list in the description, I'll add Tales too :) )

As said in the description, there's a bunch of series that you might think I forgot (and I think a loooooot of series are waaaaaay better than series like Tomb Raider), but in fact, I did count a series only if I played enough 2 of its titles.

Now, for Phantasy Star, I've actually played a lot Phantasy Star 1 and Phantasy Star 2, but I haven't finished neither of them, and I don't know if I can count it in my top, so, in the doubt, I didn't (it's in the short list of series I couldn't count, in the description).

But as far as I know (from what I've played)... it would have a... hmmm definitely higher ranking than Tomb Raider (which is here really 'by default', because beyond these 20, there isn't a lot of good series that I can count in my top...), now if it could be anywhere in the top because... I know the battles are classic, the music is good, and for the story, if it's bad it could be low, and if it's awesome it could be very high ranked...

Whoops I've just rewatched this video, and the Castlevania song is NOT 'Castle Corridor' (that's the one I put in my top 10 GBA games), this one is 'Bloody Tears' , from Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow (the original Bloody Tears is in Castlevania 2 : Simon's Quest).
