  • A human voice dosent get better than this....

  • i love this group and this song!!!!! i am 63 and have been listening to them for many years and they have had one of the best horn sections ever. i heard that through the years they had about 60 horn players. i liked the other lead vocalist but i like this guy a bit better. their song WHAT IS HIP is just so awesome!!!! thanks soso much for posting this live version!!!!!!

  • @dogcat126 I am an old bluesman, but if I had to pick the most righteous R & B of all time this would be in my top 5.

  • this guy can sing but he's nowhere as good as lenny williams the original guy who sang this song.

  • Tomorrow I leave Barcelona after one and a half year living here... and I gotta say this song brings tears to my eyes... it'sooooooo very hard to go for me

  • Great and sweet memories ! Long life to Tower of Power !

  • Pure Soul. It is just so great.

  • Where in today's music do you find bands with horn sections?

We need bands like Tower of Power.

  • @mohinderbauer

    Tejano music.

  • @TheSlixty Tower of Power has no Tejano connection whatsoever.

  • band was great just some white guys wanting to put some soul into their life. Hired a front blackman keeping it real. Great band great concept.

  • @thomasdalebaird Check the names of the band members they are not white guys. they are mexicans from the Oakland area.

  • @MrPunky60 Krupka --- yeah, that's definitely a "mexican" name. *snort!*

  • @ravello99 Awesome licks!

  • A simply AMAZING song, love the vocals and the tight band, but the song name DOES make it sound like it's going to be about constipation..

  • @Bobsunckle1 LMFAO!!!!!! I can't believe I didn't think of that myself, twisted as I am. But I LOVE this song - brings back great, happy memories of that time/era. And the band can STILL belt this out like no one's business. Wow.

  • miss lenny that was his song...gp

  • Listen to Rocco on that bass!!!

  • so so beautiful....

  • I've followed the Tower and been a concert goer in the Bay Area and Seattle areas since 1977. We did a number of their tunes when I was in the Stanford Band in the late '70's. Timeless funk...it does not get any better than the Tower.

  • Larry Braggs voice is awesome. Soulful and what a range!

  • Yeah... They still rock.

  • It's the tasty little licks like 1:40 that make David Garibaldi one of the greats. Not too fancy, but super tight and grooving...

  • beautiful song

  • Definitely one of my all time favorite bands of all time!!!!!

  • no vocalist would even want to put themselves out there like this anymore; whatever happened to real music with real instruments?

  • the voice of an angel

  • I adored this song then and can not begin to tell you how much I still do. Thanks so much.

  • @dede1265 Thanks for the post back. It just really bothers me when some people get fixated on an individual in the group, rather than the entire group. I don't know but this is what I remember hearing back when the song came out on the "radio". Still sounds sooo good today! And this band obviously puts on a good show when they play a performance. Take care...

  • You know, nothing and I mean nothing, takes away from a fantastic, breathtaking song, like bickering about which lead singer is better. Whichever one is singing, this song is the b**lls! So be loyal to the "group", it is a team effort!

  • Liked, shared to FB, much appreciated, tyvm for the post.

  • Kick ass vocals.

  • I feel so a life when i hear this music......

  • I really like this song, the singer and of course The Tower Of Power!

  • Of course Lenny is the man for this song but you have to give props to Larry...a great singer who sings his heart out every song.

  • he aint no Lenny Williams but his bro can really sang

  • Larry can't touch Lenny in a MILLION yrs of singing this. Sorry.

  • I love this song

  • This song reminds me of when I lived in New Haven and I did what I had to do ! Tower of Power just saved me!!

  • Top vocal man!

  • the vocals at 2:56 are absolutely unreal! This song is brilliant!

  • Braggs is adequate here, but as ESPN would say: "C'MON MAN!" Is there ANYBODY in GOD'S universe that can sing this better than Lenny Williams? Hell to the no and even the members of TOP know the same! LONG LIVE LENNY WILLIAMS baby!!!

  • I tell my man this all the time.

  • Larry Braggs - Best male singer of the world

  • yeaaa

  • Saw ToP last night at the Nokia Center in L.A. .. Oh man...Best concert this year! Band of the YEAR..Thx for upload Joseregaldofonseca..5starz

  • love this songggg... cool ^__^

  • i remember seeing TOP horns playing with Little Feet in 1977.

  • Mmmmm! Such talent!

  • Simply Great!

  • They are playing at Jazz Alley in Seattle this weekend!

  • l was there Thursday for the first set! Untouchable!!

  • spectacular

  • fodástica essa música!!!!

  • thanks dude

  • Thanks to the bassplayer rocco prestia from germany , GREAT !!!

  • The greatest song ever recorded!

  • Who's this dude? Nothing like Lenny but he can reach those Lenny's pitch.

  • Larry Braggs

  • If I'm not mistaken, correct me if I'm wrong it's Lenny White and not Lenny Williams. I had his LP back in the late seventies when he went solo. And he was a featured artist in Kenny G's remake of "what does it takes"

  • nope, it's lenny williams you're thinking about. the one and only.

  • Lenny White is a famous Jazz Drummer.

  • He's good. No doubt about it. But he's no Lenny Williams.

  • What's this dude's name?

  • He can sing but I miss Lenny Williams.

  • The horn section looks like their doing The Temptations or The Supremes choreography.

  • An't nothing I can say, I feel so blue, got to make it right, cause I love you so, I new the time would come when I would have to pay for my mistakes ahhhh you boy, so very hard to go,love tower of power, always loved this song, I an't easy to walk away when a women loves somebody, had to change the words alittle because I am a women.Smile & Peace

  • Met him this year, Vocals couldn't be better, but a human asshole

  • haha great comment!!

I haven't met the man but he can sing, no doubt.

    peace!

  • One of the greatest songs of our lifetime, vocals, music, words, everything...

  • Ramona817....you are telling the truth!

  • Amen!

  • @Ramona817

Is that Lenny Williams on lead vocals?

  • @captainkoo , Sure is Cap ;)

  • @captainkoo This video is Larry Bragg on Vocals. Lenny Williams sang the original

  • @aKnightInTunisia --Hey thanks. Never heard of him, but man can he sing!!

  • @aKnightInTunisia LENNY!!! Mr Lenny Williams!

  • that guy has pipes!!!

  • HEY BRO

  • Beautiful! and live!!

Totally made it his own version.

Not only high notes but very clean!!

  • Larry Braggs is a massive vocal talent, no doubt and he does a great job on this song, but, when it comes down to it, I'll have to agree, it's Lenny Williams' song.

  • This cat can really sing and has the soul needed for this song. But, this is Lenny Williams song and nobody does it like him.

  • Now this is awesome, but is it Lenny Williams??

  • ...excellent, in all ways...thank you for this superb soul singer, and the band...

  • They are still tight too. Lenny is the ish for real. Thanks for this love it!!!

  • Thanks for sharing this clip--the Tower of Power just played at the Pacific National Exhibit in Vancouver---brass and vocals as powerful as ever!!! Funk and Soul will live forever.

  • Thanks for the post!

  • so luv this song

  • Great song love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • reminds me of altoona p.a. with my boys from peros on 16th street...

  • Who the hell is this guy? Holy sh$& he's amazing!!!!!

  • Holy s$^t is right!!! He is freakin BRILLIANT!!

  • He's a blast from the old school past, when people knew how to "groove" without the pitiful crutches of no-music-training crap and profanity...Peace to you!! from an old schooler.

  • Convicted - lncredible, heartfelt from the floor up to the mic, amazing

  • One of the best singers ever!! AMAZING!!!

  • I AM IN LOVE wif this song!

  • One of my old time favorites,Thanks,What a love sad song, just gets to me,goosebumps all over those words are so powerful.

  • What a voice

  • Love this song! Sometimes live versions of a song are kind of lacking but this one was really good. Wish I had it on my stereo instead of my laptop. :/

  • This definately top 10 on my favorite songs list.

  • Both versions of this song r very good they both sound very good 2 me.Tower of Power they r a good band..........

  • I just think Lenny Williams had the best vocal sound. Even though Ray the original was a killer singer as well. Although you're right all the replacements have been great.

  • Always loved this song.

  • LOVE!

Love the white guys in the band souling it up!

  • This band started as the only black guy being the vocalist. FYI.

  • This is the real stuff! Yeah!

  • I love tower of power!!!!

  • Stunning!

  • Best singer since Lenny.

  • i've loved tower of power since i discovered them in high school in the early 90's in the east bay. i finally got to see them live in vegas last week...one of the greatest moments of my life..

  • Never did such effort go on making sheer class sound so effortless. Simply awesome. Forever a complex and beautiful song.

  • GREAT SINGER!

  • This tune was one of those defining songs of 73-74. Am I right? I miss Lenny Williams. Somebody say amen.

  • Amen! Yeah, I miss Lenny as a part of the band but they are dong well with Larry Biggs IMO. I think Lenny thought he was gonna be the next Pendergrass, Smokey or White. So he moved on. Unfortunately, his solo stuff sucked. Every singer TOP has brought on board seemed to be a fit for what they were working on at the time. Larry covers all. A well rounded and range singer.

  • 1974 in my memory, 6th grade, what a beautifull time it was.......those good all days...without the fucking Bush!!....

  • Not everything has to do with Bush, you libtard. You're going to learn that soon.

  • Emilio,Doc,Rocco and David, Thanx for keeping it together for 40 years this year. You guys ARE the best!
