Some of the comments here are so stupid, the insurance companies like the HC bill b/c it MANDATES we all buy health insurance. When it passed the senate, insurance stocks went high. It's failing in MA & OR, longer waits for appts & sub standard care.
Costed me 300$ from NC on an Amtrack & room, food. It was worth every penny. Congress people were sneaking away before we could get in there to talk to them.
the numbers that you see here are just the tip of the mountain, there are at least 2 other people who attended but were not at this event and each person that you see there reprsents at least 1000
angry citizens like myself wwho cannot afford a trip to washington DC and room and food etc. it costs a lot of money per person and for every person like me at home there are 20 other quite folk who feel this way but do not speak up.
Don't ever think that Republicans just want to stop any chance of Obama having success with a health care bill which would reduce Republicans power to regain ofiice.
Don't ever think that the GOP is exploiting your stupidity and gullibility for their own purposes.
So you are saying only democrats care about people?
Talking about exploiting stupidity. That is exactly what Obama did to the non-educated/low-income population with the help of ACORN. I don't know what planet you people come from.
Republican and Dem. politicians (for the most part) care more about getting elected than anything else. But right now Dem's want a HC bill that works, since that will mean more votes next election. An Obama success or HC bill success is the last thing Rep.'s want now, since that would mean fewer votes for them. That's why panicked GOP have resorted to lies and scare tactics to fight the HC reform bill.
Maybe one clue is that Democrats more often introduce legislation for benefit of ordinary folk, whereas Republicans more often introduce legislation primarily benefiting corporations & the wealthy. (Bush tax cuts for the wealthy are one example). As for Obama, based on his history and the fact that he is at least trying to fulfill campaign promises (like HC reform) I do think he is head & shoulders above most politicians in actually caring about people.
I consider myself to be an ordinary person - that is if you define an ordinary person as a hard working individual who is patriotic, frugal, and appreciates the freedoms guaranteed by the constitution.
On the other hand, un-ordinary people are not hard working, are unpatriotic, non-frugal- instead want a handout and do not care about the opportunities that America provides unless there is something in it for them. (line up for Obama money) You can be poor and still have an attitude of greed.
I agree that there are those who have been forced into bankruptcy due to illness. However, there are far more cases of welfare fraud in comparison. We need to get the money to those who have paid into the system at least sometime in their lives....not those who are using it as their livelihood. The current healthcare system needs improving but this bill is not that bill. We need a new bill!
No one gets an operation to scam the system. As for fraudulent claims: If you don't have a comparison between the est. $ costs of fraud versus $ cost of diversions to insur. industry profits & multimillion CEO salaries + extra vendor costs tp deal with (& fight) a myriad of private plans, the "fraud" argument is rather meaningless.
You seem to have a problem with people making a lot of money. How do you feel about athletes and movie stars...is it okay for them to get paid but not an executive who has gone to college and worked hard to get where he/she is? Everyone knows that those who have no insurance go to the hospital instead of the doctor. This overwhelms and drains the system. Why do trail lawyers heavily advertise in low income areas? Why do trail lawyers (96%) give to the democratic party. Think about it.
Out of you whole paragraph you said only one thing that makes any sense whatsoever: those who have no insurance go to the emergency ward. Overwhelms the system & it's the most expensive form of HC delivery. It's just one of the many reasons why the HC reform bill should be passed.
As for the "trial lawyers' everyone knows they bought and paid for Democrats, just like insurance co's bought & paid for Republicans.
Don't you think that instead of funding an expensive HC bill that a cheaper solutions could be found. How about having a night clinic instead of the hospital? Gov. uses its checkbook instead of using its head. Everyoine knows that the gov. has hundreds if not thousands of wasteful programs and grants. Healthcare could be run from those funds instead without having to go farther into debt. That is the complaint of most people....we cannot afford another expensive program.
Absolutely not. just why do you think insurance co's fight the public option harder than anything else? See my previous reply to you re: admin rates.
If you fight the public option you are playing into insur. co.'s hands. & helping the GOP accomplish their main objective of preventing any Obama success with HC reform.
The GOP says the program doesn't add to the deficit. If you are more concerned about a small percentage increase in taxes (if indeed there was one) more than the fact that your country is a backward selfish hellhole where millions are without access to affordable HC, & thousands of your fellow citizens die each year from lack of HC insurance - then the worst name I can call you is "typical Republican". Cut wars, pork projects, & almost everything else if you have to, but not health care.
Faux news reported on the November 5 Republican Anti American healthcare rally in which Fox news stated there were at least 20,000 to 45,000 people who were attending when in fact the Washington post reported there were only 10, 000. They showed a blue sunny ski with fall colored leaves as people walked by the camera only to edit the scene with the Sept 12th rally in an attempt to fool the viewers into thinking the rally was much more of a success then it actually was. Shame on faux news.
We are not fooled by the non-Conservative republicans. Did you not hear about district 23 in NY? - the tea party got the republican out of the race and backed a fiscal conservative.

The majority of the thousands that go bankrupt from HC costs are hard working people with HC insurance.

I never said it was smart.
