This is funny, because if you look at New York circa the 60s, 70s, and 80s it was kind of a shit hole, and now it's relatively safe (compared to like Detroit or Kansas City or Chicago) I think I'd rather take a lower murder rate, then say, have a city maintain its "grittiness."
