I think it makes sense It wasn't always just Michael and Lucifer fighting it was Michael, Gabriel, and Lucifer which ended with Gabriel being killed for finally standing up to his big brother and both of the other two in hell

Then Adam and Sam end up as vessels with Michael and Lucifer and Dean showing up to let Sam know he wasn't alone. In my eyes Adam is Lucifer, Sam is Michael, and Dean is Gabriel

Though, the angels were wrong it wasn't Dean alone stopping it it was Sam & Dean Winchester

I was slightly disappointed in the finale. It was great but I would rather have seen Dean possessed by Michael. Dean/Michael & Sam/Lucifer going at each other would have been way more dramatic & intense. Of course I would not have wanted to see Dean falling into Hell the way Sam & Adam did.

I thought Sam played a better Lucifer when Dean was taken forward in time tbh. And yes I was a bit disappointed with the whole fight between lucifer and michael, but it was still an awesome finale!
