  • If I lost a football game, and heard this song, I would feel a little bit better.

  • OH MY!!!!!!! GOD being lifted up at a football game and what a song to be honoring Him with. All I've ever heard at football games were songs from bands like: Green Day, Chicago, Journey etc. Awsome, Wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 222

  • who 'Boo's" on a gospel song???

  • Awesome! Love the song... and they sound terrific.

  • Damn i remember this night it was a good battle between them and Bama St..

  • who won the game?

  • Praise is what I doooooo

  • Go Jags

  • Very nice SU

    (FAMU GRAD)

  • preciate the props

  • Good to see this Go Jaguars!

  • su jus str8 up blowed da hell out of dis song....dey da shyt 4real

  • I like this clip... but is funny cause when they start blowin its like one trumpet dat dont break the phrases... lol

  • LOL u right!

  • I think 04 SU was made just to blow. They don't have a nice concert sound. The only way I can describe it is jagged. Its like there's a rough edge on their sound. At least they don't sound like that now.

  • SU is the band of all time. all ways have love for them .that juke box of loiuisana.......

  • Does anyone know where I can find the version when SU played Call Him Up? Yall remember that? Like late 90s...mayne..talkin bout blowin...

  • you have to ask the almighty Tapemaster if he has it loll

  • I like that they played it this song. At football games every just expects fast, loud, dancing music, but this was really together and well played.

  • i like how smooth it is

  • what man???

  • i can't stand to listen to this song

  • lol...why not?

  • deceased person. song at funeral

  • i know thats right the man sounds so bad my choir wanted to sing this song i said no way.

  • OMGGG....It sounds sooo good....SSSSS...UUUUUUU!

    *CRIES* Man...I love my state!

  • Thats so great. I wish more high schools would play songs like that before the game.

  • Greenville weston play this song

  • SSSSSSSSSSU! S-S-S-S-U! Makes me proud!

  • damn wen i get owta high skool i wana go dere

  • Yeah you can get into any college spelling like that LMAO! Sounds nice but FAMU's better!

  • @jhstiger i know how to spell sweetie!!! but thank for the advice..lol...

  • @mghs08 Sweetie it's been a year seriously let it go.

  • amazing..

  • That sound so GOOD..... SOUTHERN university is where i went to college.........phyllis from Nashville...

  • By the way, I listened to all 3 bands before I made my decision. High schoolers just listen, take notes, practice, & pray that 1day you may be as good as these University Musicians. Being a musician, HBU graduate & band director, I critique music at all levels & to be honest & UNBIASED, I must give the highest score to TSU. I also commend both SU, FAMU & all 3 directors for playing good gospel music at a football game. My HAT IS OFF to ALL 3 UNIVERSITY BANDS. God Bless you all. WELL DONE!

  • Annointed!!! Praise is about an inner peace to worship God. SU "BLEW" that away, "Blasting" the bridge, but TSU's MELLOW version KEPT me there & increased the CHILLS to almost TEARS. As a HBU grad & present Band Director, TSU, you truly Blessed me with this version. You are a credit to the HBU bands.

  • this sounds like a bunch of clanging car horns !

  • I can't believe you said that

  • I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH

  • look at #1 football player struttin at the end of the video like he got an attitude. Big daddy Dog, watch him strut

  • yall saw #1 football player dapin off the field towards the end of the video LOL cool daddy strut

  • yall blasting...but it was still good. but it was not a song to be blasted! TSU had way more character and the arrangement was better.

  • FAMU,TSU,SU

  • I just cried

  • GOD BLESS YOU!!!

  • Best performance of the 3 (So.U., TnS, and FAMU) that I have heard. Video was visually disappointing, but musically this band's presentation is "untouchable"!!!

  • Grambling Fan i admit but this was beautiful!

  • TSU's arrangements has character. But, SU you did you thing too! Good job!

  • 1:36 MY GAWD!!!

  • praise is wat i do and all su yall deserve 2 play dat song cause yall should b praised get it human jukebox

  • OK, so yeah this was ok. I really do like SU's band, but I think byfar TSU 1ST FAMU 2ND AND SU pulls it in for 3rd. Well done.

  • There is a time and place for capping notes, and tgis isn't it. Pretty Good performance tho. I give a slight edge to FAMU with Ten. St. a close second.

  • honestly i love all 3 versions...lets keep something in mind here....its not about how they they play or what style they play it...its who they are playing it for...the one true and living god...thats what REALLY matters...

  • amen hr009

  • That's the best comment about marching bands since I have been on youtube. Everybody is always arguing who is better.

  • god liked fams better

  • Lol its all gospel so i dnt thnk god really has a favorite

  • @hr009 nice words :)

  • I'm sorry yall should check out TnSUs version it is serreal. Anointed performance. True balance, versatility, just awesome. Do disrespect to other schools but its worth listening to. Its haunting. Especially the sax solo.

  • That really was a good performance. I thought FAMU and SU did a good job, but TnSU version was not just a performance for the audience. They was playing that one for the Lord himself. And the sax solo was perfect.

  • That performance, or should I say worship experience drew me closer to God after straying away for while. The most moving performance from an HBCU band that I've seen.

  • (my bad..referring to TSU)

  • I like FAM's version but it doesnt have as much power as SU's

  • Thank you!!! It's about time somebody gave SU some kind of credit without hatin. Both version I thought was good. It's just that SU caught the holy ghost, and played with some intensity. CAN I GET A AMEN!!!

  • AMEN AMEN

  • Are you kidding me? This song isn't meant to be blasted on it's an inspirational song, you know like a concert selection that has color (woodwinds) they play an important key in the song, I didn't hear it here yes it was a good performance don't get me wrong but it's not always about who can play the loudest, or who can scream the most, put a little color in the song and see how it sounds. But I do love "Fly like a bird" my fav SU song.

  • its southern, they're gonna blow any song they play

  • dats not true southern can play at a moderate volume but i c where u comin 4rm...and i agree dis is not a blowin song. it shuld have been just a little smoother but good song.

  • Why are we still bashing each others bands??

If u prefer FAMU's version over SU then go watch that one. Its not that serious yall. Its only YouTube lol

    YLY

  • I Agree! I like to hear "Both" FAMU and SU... as well as Peach Co. High School...

    ~A band/music geek and proud of it!~

  • Well if SU wants to forever sound like an old Chevy with four 12"s in the trunk... lol. I'll go with the complete Bose car audio system.

  • yall iz the shit i should be there 2010 on cymbals so be looking for me

  • ok, we'll be looking for you; do your best and praise HIM on the cymbals, yea, even the high sounding cymbals..but dont wait til 2010 to clean up your language..perversion & praise dont mix

  • AMEN!!!

  • Love This Song, all versions, all bands. Southern Has My favorite rendition. It doesnt matter what school you are if its good its good.

  • I like the way it sounds,I don't even go to the college yet but plan to attend next year and I think it sounds good and like the original song.

  • Dang they got me with this one lol southern off the chain

  • A band is about competition true, not insults. No band member should down another band. It's rude. Give constructive criticism but not to the point where it's insulting. This goes to every band member: If you think your band is better than any other band dnt type about it. Show us whats the name of your band??? My Band is SC State I'm a trumpet player. Look us up and tell me what you think. Plz no insults dnt have tyme for nonsense.

  • LOVE this song and LOVE my band!!! JAG PRIDE!!

  • why ya'll goin back n forth about who did better they are 2 different bands-they both did good so why are we arguin and cussin over who played a GOSPEL SONG better? Its supposed 2 be glorifying GOD and glorifying Him not YOURSELVES by ya'll doin that he isn't pleased with either band cuz we all kno He is a jealous God and whenu argue over who did what better and start hating the glory shifts to ya'll instead of Him which was the sole purpose in playin this song in the first place-right?

  • they do overblow a little, but the spirit go hold of me and i couldn't even tell

  • Aye yall play aiight n all but yalls trumpets overblow WAY too much on da real but yall is aiight.

  • jus cuz we got nuts and don't play like lil bitches, don't mean ya'll gotta hate....that's a fat sound. FAMU plays fat too, they just play like faggots. But anyway, get on our level, haters. SU was, is, and always will be, the SHIT. so really, all yall can kiss my ass. Pussy ass FAMU niggas.

  • You can't be reppin' SU that hard after this performance. Look to the right and click on FAMU's. College vs High School.

  • U right. SU is a brass band. Yall some powerful ass niggas 4 real. A brass band is a man's band.

  • our high school version of this song was nice...

peach county...look them up in here

  • it really wasnt all that to tell you the truth

  • Your right Gaifam....All imma say is God bless Southern. Hope fully this blessing can improve yall music!!! Much love!!

  • Because Famu band members and friends have no discipline or respect.......

  • Dont even come out with "famu band memebers Have no respect" because alot more people wanted to say what I said but I was the only one that step up. But i am gonna apologize for cursing because this is a church song....but i aint gonna apologize for saying the fact that FAMU is better!!! And if you want to talk about respect then why dont you talk about it with southern who playing such a beautiful song so horribly bad!!!

  • dont get mad man when u the best nigga goin 2 hated that life

  • Watch your mouth, sir. Better yet, watch us at the Bayou Classic!!!

  • LOL! This version is horrible.

  • This version is not horrible. The only thing different about FAMU's version is that they had one of their band members singing. They both did a good job.

  • The entire band was singing and the instrumentation was also better. That goes towards the balanced sound FAMU has, versus all brass. Listen to SU starting around the 1:12 mark... come on now.

  • You have a point and I understand that SU can sometimes be a little out of tune. I think FAMU really does have a good balanced sound. But when it comes to marching and precision drills on the field. SU got that one hands down. FAMU is too large for their own good on the field. But I think the two bands are the most classful bands in HBCU history.

  • Too large?? FAMU is small compared to D1 schools. The truth is most HBCU bands is waaaay too small. No lie, my high school band (which was by no means as entertaining) was SU's size. And drill?? If making boxes and lines is what you want, cool go SU. But if you want Jordan shooting a three? FAMU baby.

  • It's not just about making lines and boxes. It's all about music in motion. When SU does their precision drills, they are not just marching, they are creating a mental picture of what music is really all about. Feeling, emotion, and passion is what SU is drawing on that field. The truth is SU is a little smaller than most HBCU marching bands. But what they lack in size. They make it up with their powerful sound and excellent music selections.

  • So they're exciting lines and boxes... ok. But FAMU made a sail boat that moved across the field with the sail going up while playing 'Rock The Boat", and they made a Chevy with spinning rims (yes they were 'chrome' and 'spinning') while playing 'I'm Riding Spinners'. Now to me, that's music in motion... but I may be wrong. ;-)

  • When you are marching with a band with half of the school population. You should be able to make those kinds of things on the field. I didn't never say FAMU wasn't good. I just feel like people should give SU the credit they deserve. I ain't even gonna lie. That is some incredible shit you just said. I'm pretty sure if SU had the same amount of band members they probably would come up with the same ideas. But then again it probably would be better.

  • lmao, 'half the school population'! Got to admit, that was funny. But FAMU is the largest HBCU in the nation based off of its main campus. SU is the largest if you include SUNO. So both schools should have a large band, and SU could do that easily if they only added woodwinds. 30 trumpets with 2 clarinets, 1 flute, and 1 piccolo just ain't right. lol.

  • They could add more to their woodwind section. But that would go against the code. You see SU is a brass band. They was designed to be a brass band, and they forever will be a brass band. At SU, brass represents power and intensity. I believe a brass band is a man's band, and SU is DA MAN!!!

  • AAAAAAO...AAAAAAO!!! well said.

  • ok. i can't resist...we're talking about a "praise" song... u know- a song that's offered up to God...so why r we 'cussing up storm on these comments? i understand the technical critques to a certain extent, but both schools should be commended for getting out of the box of the same 'ol... same 'ol stuff we always hear...

  • Southern Arrangement sounds better to me than FAMU I would hope that many of you would quit your part time jobs called "Hating"!!!!!Because I heard FAMU and I wanted to throwup!!!!!

  • you gotta be out of your motha fuckin mind to eve say sum shit like that!!! Yall have no type of blend or balance. All yall think about is blasting even on concert songs. THats was nasty as fuck with them nasty as trumpet players hangin over and the lower brass aint even together. You need to learn and listen to what real music sound like and then you can talk because right now you talkin out yo ass!!!

  • cursin in the presence of gospel hehe

  • nope it aint there. peoplr are phrasing differently and everything... sounds ok but needs work, especially on the soft section.

  • ok...listen to da dynamics, n soun quality of fam's Praise is what i do....n SU's.....wuts da diff?...fam arrangement is nice...n u can tell da soun quality of fams music is dat dey r puttin dur ALL into da music!!!

  • With all those out of tune sounds a folks hanging over... and of all bands to mention he brings FAMU and UAPB in this.. bands KNOWN fo being musical... WOW.....

  • tsu's arrangement is too many times better than this one. what was su thinking when they played this, they shoulda just played can you feel it or at least played somethin simpler, not a song with chords and and a melody.

  • This was ok ... a band should be able to keep good sound quality when playing loud and soft. I can tell that, that season SU is not used to playing softer songs b/c of the quality. Everything doesnt need to be loud.

  • Well if you heard the real version of the song, it gets loud near the end of the song. The way SU played this matched the original by Shekinah Glory Ministries.

  • WILL YALL PLEZZZZZ STOP HATIN ON SU SU IS THA BEST!!! i Looked at mostly all they videos and they blowed out tha other band in ALL the videos,su is tha best y yall dont under stand y yall bull shitin yall need 2 get sum understandin on wat tha fuk they doin, cuz next year we blowin out err body who step up! how i know cuz imma b there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dawg what the fuck was this.. i just heard this. this is why swac bands should not attempt to play something with chords. continue blowin everything in unison thats what you do best.. cant touch famu arrangement..hands down..

  • we will see whats what sept 2 swac meac challenge

  • You're stupid and a dumb ass!!! LOL!!! FAM?

  • I never knew they had so many haters on southern they is the best band in the united states and i dont see any of yall bands trying to challenge them cause yall know whats going to happen to yall so plzz shut the fuck up

  • I like Dat Arrangement.

  • praise is what i do when i wanna get close to u GE IT SOUTHERN when im happy or i praise u bcuz praise is all i do an i ow it all to u . praise is what i doo its waht idooooooooooooooooooooooo praise is what i do ooooooooooooooooooooooooo its what i doooooooooooooooooooooooo praise is what i doooooo its WHAAT I DOOOOOOOOOOO yeah niw beat that FAMU or UAPB

  • What Was That? I am so glad i am from FAMU

  • on most slower songz southern kill b killin like on dis

  • SWAC bands are hilarious, "we have no musicianship so lets just blow everything". But I got admit they are fun to watch (but I'd neva join they band)

  • Since SU is suppose to be the TOP band and all and always talking about how people steal songs from them and mess. WOuldnt this count as them taking a song from FAMU?

  • ok...when are you going to realize that this is SU style, they have been doing their thing longer than BCC has ever been heard of...so if you have nothing constructive or positive to say but rather make childish slants toward the clip then just shut up!!

  • it's a good thing i'm christian cuz if i wasn't the comment would of been even worse but blending and balance are nowhere to be found... Good song yes....but bad way to plat it.....i'm from BCC but i think u should listen to the way Famu play's it...u know get some idea's...

  • Then, that would make SU....well... Bcc.

    ......and, that ain't happen'n.

    "S"

  • If you want to hear this song the way it is meant to be played. Go to this link- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9HIhkXaT-o

Southern should stick to Earth Wind and fire...WHere you only need trumpets to sound good and loud.

  • This was nice but like they said trumpets are sticking out but overall it was nice

  • DATS WASS UP

  • This sound a hot MESS. You can't over blow EVERY, I guess that's what most of you swac bands do.

  • Better than any band any where else and I go to G-Tech and thats not in the swac. Even better than USC and I was bron and raised in Compton.

  • Damn!! I love my S U!! Go Jags!!

  • Yeah, they probably could have phrase a little better, and I agree about the 1-2 trumpet players sticking out...but I was still getting off to the song. I can only imagine sitting across the field from them while they were playing that, especially the "blow" part - I be sho 'nuff getting my praise on. ooverall, I thought a good job.

  • ^^ay shut up.....

  • Where's the Phrasing, what the hell happened in the low brass going into the bridge, and Why does eveyone breath but 1 or 2 trumpet players in between, Dooooo"-"ooooo. It's what I do?

  • sad to say it, but they don't phrase like they should. it just happens.

  • I must admit, this is one of the nicer ballards I've hear SU play in all my years of hearing them.

  • Yeah, dat sounded good to me. Good job S.U.

  • Somethin'sounds off bout the part right before the blow section...but...da blow section does make up for it(lol)

  • yea all of their arrangements are pretty if you really listen to the parts. Yea SU play loud as fugg but guess what they control the volume, so it never sounds sloppy so.......GO JAGS BIYTCH!! I'ma be there in bout a month

  • lol I'm sorry but half the time, that just isn't true.

  • IS SU GONIG GOSPEL LOL

  • No they normally play songs nice and ignorant(loud and tight), not beautiful like this one.

  • THEY ALWAYS PLAY BEAUTIFUL SONGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • So beautiful. Not often you hear pretty songs from SU.
