It made no damage at all to the tyre, most firms won't make it because it is not a profit making product. He guessed it would damage the rubbber compound too but it didn't, simply it is a great product but obviously it's dependant on the company that makes it.
My Uncle bought something like this years ago. He was skiing in the Alps and had only brought his low slung sports car; a Lotus 7, obviously using chain tyres would only destroy the beautiful bodywork so he went into the little shop and bought some spray-on-chain tyres and it worked a treat. But, it was made by a big American firm who subsequently took it off the market probably because it's cheaper than chain tyres; which they also sold so they were losing money.
funny how we never saw the back wheels (where the handbrake affects), is it not? MyRandomisation's comment tallies with someone who was indeed just sold a can of water...
I am open minded about this product having seen something similar at a convention in Canada five years ago. Then it was just a prototype that you painted on with a brush and left for a few minutes. This video shows it as a spray and go application which is far more user friendly. The thing they both have in common is that the wheel spin was dramatically reduced after appication. Overall it seems to be a good product but I doubt the US will have a market for it in place of snow chains.
And as for that guy that said that the 1st attempt was all guns blazing. Listen to the engine note on the 1st and 2nd attempts. Not much difference i think youll find ?
That guy that sprayed it on all 4 tyres. What an idiot !! Unless youve got a 4 wheel drive, why would you spray it on all 4 tyres ?? well der !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This stuff is specially designed for tyres so it doesn't damage them and it's "temporary" solution for UK roads where you need it to get out from drive way, car park or slippery side road. Main roads are normally fine. If you have to drive in deep snow you obviously put snow chains on. It's that simple.
What a load of rubbish. Initially you pulled away, all guns blazing with the wheels spinning and at the 2nd attempt, you pulled away normally and sensibly.
Perhaps this stuff works, but what's the point of using a product that works for about 1 minute and probably damages the rubber compound of your tyres!?!?!?
If you haven't got the right equipment to drive in the snow, don't drive at all. Simple.
I'll be honest, I bought a can of this stuff and not only has it not worked on even the slightest gradient in the dryest snow, the can doesn't have much of a life.. after spraying the driving wheels on 2 occassions and all 4 tyres on 1 occassion it was empty!.. and on none of those occassions did this product make any remote difference.. I may as well have sprayed the wheels with water
It is like a glue which helps your tyres when skidding. After you apply it wait for a minute or two and drive off. As soon as you start driving on asphalt it wears off.

I sprayed some of this stuff on my mates skis when we went skiing last year for a laugh.
He is.... or shall I say WAS a budding ski jumper.
This stuff really works because my mate broke his neck.... his skis stuck like glue on the snow when he set off to attempt a jump!!!!!
Brilliant

How can a car get stuck horizontally... with the camera panning to the front of the car, I think HANDBRAKE! Is it snake oil you spray on the tyres?

One can last for 2-4 ordinary tyres and you used it on 8 tyres. So from 8 applications you wouldn't have enough stickiness there to make it work.
