Hello I was one of the drummers joined them in 1968 and did my last show with them ft Clifford at the Victoria Mem Hall then I joined the Surfers and later October Cherries good memories so few remember the Beejays thnx
This band lasted till 1972. There were quite a few changes in line up and at one time they had horns and a female singer. But the early line up as on this single was one of the best. I dont know how the later line ups sounded because they always had good personnel in the band. By the way, the Elroy Peace EP was on RCA label. That edition of Bee Jays had Hussein Wahad (lead), Leo Nalpon (organ, saxes, flute), Roy Oh (drums) and S A Vinton (drums).
This was one of the great sixties bands. Formed in late 1964, they were moving away from the Shadows and Beatles oriented bands and more into rhythm and blues as personnified by the wave of English blues bands. This single was released in 1967 and was their debut on EMI. Bob Dylan's influence is obvious on Clifford De Souza's vocals. I salute you for posting this. Do you have the EP by Elroy Peace where he is backed by a later edition of Bee Jays ?
