I agree w/ ferrgus19. Don't get me wrong, I'm REALLY REALLY glad this film is getting made, and look forward to seeing it, but... Dangerous Birds, Salem 66, Liz & Karla from Orchestra Luna, Lori Doll, Pseudo Carol, Jane Hudson, not to mention all of us music writers who certainly helped to *promote* the scene...
Awesome project. A lot of great bands (and memories) for sure. But the film producers should note that there were girls from nowhere too -- and they were not groupies! Carmen Monoxide played bass with the Girls, Baby's Arm and the Marc Thor Band back in the day. And what about Barb Kitson of Thrills (now sadly deceased)? It's true that the scene was heavy on testosterone -- all the more reason to turn the spotlight on what women on the scene were doing, if only to mention the zines.
@ferrgus19 Thanks for your support...So far, we've interviewed Miss Lyn of the Boston Groupie News, Joanie Lindstrom of the Late Risers Club and we will interview more women. I don't think you should take the title so literally. It's not meant as an affront to women in music. It's actually just named after a DMZ song.
@KTVBOSTON Thanks for saying that! They were all really fun to interview. And we just want to show how cool these bands are and hopefully make an enjoyable movie.
