I'm a big fan of MJ i think part of this he sang live but most was playback.. The vocal hiccups and "Ow" noises are the same as the 1982 recordings.. This performance was 10 years later.. his voice changed pitch.. in this performance his pitch wouldn't be high enough to reach the original thriller recordings...

If you listen to his Thriller from '88, it sounds A LOT different than this one. This one sounds practically identical to the original recording anyway. Cosidering how much dancing he does here I'm not too surprised.
