Great Boston band that played all the Broadway hits of its time. Thanks for the classy vid to match! very cool era. as you portray it! the style of the magazines is striking too. Nice showcase for the new electric vibraphone! I guess the new electric refrigerators and vibes were the new thing at the time. Hey maybe thats what the retired ice man did. Became vibe players in dance bands when the electric fridigaire took over!
I cannot believe this are original covers of VOGUE and so on!?! Anyways, incredible cool images and the music is so brilliant, once again a great work you did!!:-)
15 or 20 years ago "Hit Parade of Yesterday" of Canberra 2XX radio loved to play this song. I don't have this record and you won't believe how much I missed this rendition. A big thank you!
I took the chord changes from this version and created a lead shit from it and had my horn combo play it this past Monday, ( Dec 29, 2008 ) We improvised on the middle in a 4/4 tempo, but we hewed to the 2/4 feeling on the actual 'head' melody going in and going out. People clapped really loudly for this one so it stays in the repertoire.
A really refined arrangement, and Reisman's vocal is just gorgeous. Sad lyrics, yet the bright music is uplifting - quite an unusual combination... The pictures are up to your high standards!
Reisman must have been very popular if the number of his records I've found over the years is any indication. He always seemed a bit more sophisticated than his contemporaries, especially in the 1930's. Thanks for the thought and time you expend on your videos.
Delightful combo of sad lyrics and cheerful music, to say nothing of the posters. By the way, my own salon has a very special name--which I've yet to create--and is a few hours south of NYC.
This makes my heart feel like bursting...I don't know why.

I love these non-sequiturs. Part of some post-modern hypertext movement?
