A resonator is a component in the exhaust system that tunes and softens the sound of the engine. Having one can have some drawbacks in terms of horsepower but it can save you money in traffic tickets for disturbing peace.
do the research bro! Youre right about cops looking for ricers (hondas) because theyre usually the ones that do all these mods. Ever heard a really loud and annoying honda? well probably they removed the cat converter. And yes you certainly can get a ticket, also a car without a cat will NEVER pass inspection
right, only the cat but in a Volks its a not a brilliant idea to say good bye to the cat but the res thats no prob anyway the .:R32 drives in a similar configuration without problems
(oh crap removing the cat on a car IMHO is the beginning of an humiliating fail when the car show its power limit)
I never got a ticket but the civics hit them justly because of the cat (you're right on it) but the VR6 res is not actually doing something else than dampening sound and like what 5hp the rest is the cat's job and I'm totally for keeping the cat on the system
Volkswagens are better off with a truly tuned complete exhaust system for example Remus or Milltek that are configured for best performance and sound. Volkswagen cars are just too delicate to handle cheap upgrades, thats another reason they're not ricers. Same thing applies to BMW Mercedes Audi etc..
Did you just cut the resonator off and run straight pipes or what?

having tuned cars is quite a strong carbon footprint and keeping the cat is a good act to make to keep it decent for me...
