I read somewhere else that she was of Spanish ancestry and that her Grandfather was from El Salvador. It is not clear if he was born there or if either of her parents were, as well.
Still, we'll claim her! As we do with Rosemary Casals, Christy Turlington, but NOT Allison Iraheta :)
They're all so beautiful. It's funny that 10 or so years before they weren't so much. I mean, it mustn't have just been the lack of makeup or the well covering clothes, it's just that the "beautiful woman" wasn't the same as the ones from the 1920s onward.
I'm so sad that Anita has died. I was shocked when I heard the news on Sunday morning. She was one of the few remaining connections to the silent era to still be alive. Fay Wray was the last silent star to have died before Anita. In 2003, I wrote to Anita because I was so excited that a silent film star was still alive and I wanted her to know my love of silent film stars. She sent me an autographed picture that I treasure.
I was NOT referring to Barbara Kent when I wrote about the last leading lady to have died before Anita Page. I was referring to Fay Wray. Please read my letter from above from last year so you can see that.
@lpvcrcd Hi lpvcrcd, sorry for my late reply. I've been busy at work, therefore, I haven't had time to check Youtube more often. Anita wasn't listed at the list of the most beautiful women because she was blackballed by Irving Thalberg for her refusal to sleep with him. Because of that, her fame ended until the 1970s, when silent film stars where rediscovered thanks to the work of Kevin Brownlow, the renowned silent film historian.
So Sad that Anita is gone. Though she had a long life and was a great age, I am very sorry that we have lost this link to silent movie-early talkie movie history. After all, how many people can claim to have starred with Ramon novarro, Lon Chaney, a young Crawford and been close friends with Jean Harlow !!!! Thanks for the great post.
I had the honor to meet her. Even towards the end, she was such an honorable and gracious lady.

@metalmachine69 I thought both her parents were Salvadorans of Spanish extraction.
Are you sure she's half? If so, would you happen to know her mother's ethnic background?
