Well it was Noel who wrote the songs that made them the stars they became. Also Noel asserted himself as the leader the and he became the chief songwriter (which he was for the first 3 albums then the other band members began to include some of their songs in albums but Noel still wrote more out of them). He was even called the "chief" among the band members

But, I give credit to Liam being the "front-man" and his vocal abilities (back when his voice was amazing, not so much now)
