  • thumbs up if u think this is one of the greatest movies of all time!!!

  • 1:32 this music isnt on the soundtrack record samething with the salt mine scene in the beginning of the movie

  • The cartoon like the new version.

  • Were the gratuitous penis and boob shots better in the original?

  • @ZenAntics I dont remmeber any from the drive in movie do you know who mister delish is ? he is the cartoon character that tells you how many minutes till showtime when you go to the snack bar at the drive in /in an abondoned drive in movie film all over the floor in the projection room

  • Esta chida

  • "Spartacus, a motion picture unequaled in the entire history of film-making, unlikely to ever be surpassed..."

How true they were. Imagine if the Hollywood crap-shoot decided to churn out a remake of this, they'd fail miserably.

  • @yTubeBlowsBigBalls spartacus the tv show does not stuck. so dont be nostalgic.

  • @lolzlmao11 wtf are you talking about? I didn't even know or mention a TV show.

  • @yTubeBlowsBigBalls shit i was supposed to comment to the other person but it commented to u

  • Universal Pictures' Greatest Achievements: All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) Psycho (1960) Spartacus (1960) To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) Jaws (1975) National Lampoon's Animal House (1978) The Deer Hunter (1978) The Blues Brothers (1980) E.T. the Extra Terrestrial (1982) Back to the Future (1985) Out of Africa (1985) Backdraft (1991) Jurassic Park (1993) Schindler's List (1993) Apollo 13 (1995) The Mummy (1999) A Beautiful Mind (2001) Seabiscuit (2003) Ray (2004) King Kong (2005)
  • @cinemapsycho91 all those movies are garbage except for all quiet on the western front spartacus and to kill a mockingbird especially garbagy are the ones that murderer speilburg did

  • @spacepatrolman Well, you know, that is your opinion. Furthermore, I am not in the position, or most of all, the mood, to argue it.

  • "Spartacus! a motion picture uneaqual in the entire history of film making!" I love how they used to proper lay it on back then

  • I was responding a comment of somebody who kept saying that Kubrick disowned Spartacus, as though it made it any less a Kubrick film. My point was that just because an artist is heavily self-critical, it doesn't make the artwork any less great.

  • I kinda dig the way trailers worked back in the day

  • if it's the theatrical trailer how had it already won 4 academy awards?

  • @aavallone yea right a trailer is a comeing attactions thing spartacus was killed in battle the ending was made up

  • This was a movie making time when they had tens of thousands of extras in the background as regular soldiers. Yet wasn't as expensive as today (not 'cause the money today is worth less than back then). In Lord of The Rings movie all the Orcs, etc.. where computer animated. Back then they'd have real people in the fight scenes, not this cheapo crap of today. Yet, if filmed today, Spartacus would cost over $900,000,000. Perhaps much more.

    Today sucks.

  • this was the most compelling epic ever made. the music is perfect, barbaric and awesome.

  • This film is better than Gladiator or any history epic.

  • I am...

  • The irony of it is.........Kirk Douglas played a sort of communist icon in Spartacus, whereas Micheal Douglas played a capitalist icon in Gordon Gecko.

  • i love spartakus

  • 0:17-0:25 should of been included in the film, because no-one knows for sure how many roman armies spartacus really defeated, that part should of being kept in

  • @tysonkat1 I agree.

  • Peter "Used-to-know" (1:38)

  • How come there's no mention of Stanley Kubrick??

  • @MproductionsMovies

Stanley Kubrick practically disowned the film.

  • @XXmissybooXX he wasnt the initial director he was filling in for somebody else and kirk douglas was the producer I think he made a mistake when he didnt use alex norths music in 2001 good thing he didnt make the same mistake twice.

  • A communist movie.

  • i,m tony curtiss ..and my daughter jamie has a 12" cock uurgh!

  • John Gavin looks like Taylor Lautner

  • @BPFanatico While he does, Gavin is a better actor.

  • thexetumare quit the cus words.......blech

  • go fuck your mother retarded asshole....

  • tony loved sparticus lol

  • uh the new spartacus sand and blood is so much better.

  • @burpingbabes15 dont be an idiot, there are too much of them these days

  • @burpingbabes15 Blood an Sand, or Sand and Blood superior to this? Uh, no it ain't. Not on any level. Shit cast, music, performances, production design, direction, you name it.

  • @RogueRotting360 are you retarded lmaooooo?

  • @lolzlmao11 No, are you?

  • @RogueRotting360 fucking queer.

  • @RogueRotting360 you god damn fag. why the fuck you falling me?

  • One of my Favorite Movies of All-Time.

  • why would stephen king be upset? because one of the best director's that ever lived made one of the best horror movies ever made out of his book?

the tv series the shinning is a joke compared to the film

  • Now i know why stephen king was so pissed off by the way stanley kubrick changed the shining in his view.

  • @duderucku fuck stephen king the shining is a classic

  • spartacus was a good story to translate to a series - really love this show online episodes at Spartacus online Stream ( .) -com

  • the series is nothing like this movie. i love the series more though

  • i agree the series is great and is more true than this movie.

  • @duderucku more true? the series is all effects and naked chicks, its fine by me but really, more true? are you on crack?

  • @duderucku True to what? The style-over-substance trend that Gladiator introduced?

  • @RogueRotting360 There is nothing wrong with the movie spartacus but in the trailer they lie when they say 1:04 that spartacus is invinsible he was defeated by drabba in the areana and defeated by crassus [ hes so crass] in battle

  • Great Movie,5 stars.

  • Poor Kubrick, they didn't even mention him.

  • @ZkinandBonez

Stanley Kubrick practically disowned the film.

  • @XXmissybooXX Tchaikovsky trashed all of his compositions, too, but that doesn't make them any less his.

  • @jg2904 What do you mean trashed he said he didnt like them?he was one of the most prolific composers of romantic music [dimitri tiomkin produced a movier about him the music lovers ] alan hovhaness destroyed 2000 compositions because he didnt like being called the american sibelius but he did it all over with many symphonies

  • i love this film .

i am glad it was made in 1960.

and not today - with computer generated effects.

    YOU CANT BEAT THIS ORIGINAL!!!

  • damn too many people :)

  • maybe one day the mexicans will also revolt here in america? lol

  • good, we will let them cross back over the Rio Grande

  • Ciao, Ciao,

I look at old movies about Rome and Itallian culture, But I am Itallian and grew up in an Itallian family that came from Italy. I think that there is no movie that expresses Itallian behavior, movements and character like The passion of Christ, also... Rocky, Gladiator And Jesus (2000) starring Jeremy Sisto as Jesus and Gary Oldman as governer pilate (actually said like... Paul-latt with an Itallian accent. Or also in some diaolects... Peel-latt

  • It's by far the best of the historical and biblical themed epics of the period .. the human drama is as compelling as the big spectacular moments, which is unique IMO.

  • back from the days when trailers were almost as long as the movie itself

  • Historically speaking, the "real" Spartacus after the big battle, was never found, but in the film(for dramatic pathos) he is crucified alongside his confederates.

  • Kirk and Jean are soooo hot. Watch and learn children

  • Here fricken here Pure talent, like a master of acting.

  • Hollywood would not know what to do with an actor of Olivier's talent today

  • @htuomnom their bodies my god.....is good, but overreacted in my opinion....

  • @TheXetumare fuck your opinion, your no one

  • @htuomnom yea they would put him in good movies, what else is there to do

  • @htuomnom they are there just have to look for em.

  • I wager he would refuse to work in most modern movies today.......and i cant say that i blame him!

  • @htuomnom Amen to that!!!

  • @htuomnom theres john hoyt at 0:20 on the left he was in the twilight zone there is a list of his films at listentomusic.stumbleupon

  • The best film ever. Just like she is the best,

  • are greeks black???? no there not. so spartacus wasnt black nor was he white. also he diserved to die slaves need to know there place, this is a good lesson why not to disobey your master. even if u get an army you will die in the end hahah.

  • I:m Spartacus ...and so is my wife

  • Trivia:

During the arduous, long shoot, Tony Curtis allegedly asked Jean Simmons, "Who do I have to screw to get off this film?" Some versions of the interaction include Simmons shouting back, "When you find out, let me know."

Hedda Hopper and John Wayne, both leaders in Hollywood's powerful right-wing element, publicly condemned the film as "Marxist propaganda" prior to its release.

  • @bjnboy

If you want to see what propaganda really is, try watching Marion Morrison in "The Green Berets."

  • i am tony curtis.......................

  • A superb film... though the Big Battle at the end... The stunt guys roman, and slave army wore trainers... really let it down for me

  • I'm (not) Spartacus !

  • IMHO the greatest movie ever made....

  • Laurence Olivier was totaly better than Alec Guinness was

  • anybody know what that old movie is which has medusa, and pegasus, perseus??? its that really old one...

  • That would be Clash of the Titans.

  • I love you Sparticus. - Tony Curtis.

Another interesting thing I noticed with these old epic trailers is that they always say they are the greatest movies ever. I.e. the trailer of Gone With the Wind, The Ten Commandments, etc.

  • this is superior in every way to the ten commanments & gone with the wind although ten commanments is a top film

  • @filmfanatic99

I think there's some substance behind their claims!

You've just named two great films even to this day. Gone With the Wind is still regarded as a top 10 classic.

These people set out to make history - no expense spared!

  • I got kirk douglas on myspace...he's the oldest person on myspace

  • And the sexiest and most desirable

  • so true gurl...lol

you should add me on myspace

  • but who wins? does spartacus get the girl?

  • can somebody fill me in on the details of the story? it looks interesting but i try not to watch a movie unless i know how it ends (whose alive and what not)

  • what the hell is the point in that?

  • Wow, do you live in America? If so, you surely know what it's like to be under control. That's what the hell the point is!!

  • No I live in Australia, so your point goes down in flames lol

I mean I've spoiled a few films in my day for myself, but of course, sooner or later I'd be watching them anyway, that's just impatience. But then again i live for films, it's just PirateWolf's comment made me a touch angry.

Plus, I think, slaginess, you thought my comment was a reply to Cluebert when it wasn't, it was a reply to PirateWolf.

  • My bad, movieman. Yeah, I guess I see your point now about PirateWolf. Probably one of those guys that reads the end of a book before reading the rest as well.

  • best film, period

  • one of the best films
