can you use a video as a background image so that you can composite a blender object to move with an object in real time? all ive seen in tuts so far is compositing over a still image but that wouldnt work if i wanted to make the object interact with a moving live action object...
Hey, i'm an After Effects User and this tutorial answered a lot of questions + things i've been struggling with in Blender. It would be great to see some more tut's in a similar vein, i.e. compositing working between after effects and blender. I don't fully understand all the settings and the best way to render from blender, Motion tracking in blender, etc..

Yeah you can. Just select a video file instead of the image.

you don't even need after effects at all since blenders sequence editor has Alpha Over, just my 5c

make sure your rbga button is pressed too if you want the alpha to transfer
