  • its easier pulling the window up with your hands and then putting some tape up to hold it.

  • sound of rachet is hurting my ears

  • snap-on tools

  • is the plastic lining still needed for the door panel? or should i just throw it away?

  • Are there any tips on how to get the window to roll down more? From this video, it skips from removing the interior panel, and the window is already down so you can unbolt the track from the glass.

I can only get the window to go down an inch, since that's about how far the track will drop down.

  • just did this...my damn cables were all messed up...bought about 3 different types of wireing..all of them have snapped under the window presure. Still thanks to this man, he saved me over 300$ in labor. Thanks Bro

  • youre awesome

  • it is the biggest pain in the ass to do this in the dark. this is what i get for procrastinating.

  • i have a twin turbo 3000gt..and both windows dont shut proper stay open bout half inch...is it for the same fualt your video..cheers

  • Do you have to remove the plastic on the inside? Where can I get plastic to replace it?

  • Of course you have to remove the plastic... that's like asking if you have to remove the door panel... You don't need to replace it though

  • Yeah I kinda figured. How come you don't have to replace it?

  • Well I'm not sure as to why it's there in the first place, I know it's just basicly like a weather stripping, to keep it all sealed up but it really doesn't need it to serve that purpose. It's possible to peel it off and reseal it w/ silicon if you don't rip it or w/e if you had to, not really a big deal though.

  • Kk. Got it. Thanks a lot. I had another question. I put a stealth door on my 3000GT, but the lock is about half an inch too high. I thought they were supposed to be the same door?

  • Don't get me wrong when I say this because this video is very informative, but Blaine, you are a total toolbag.

  • ...? Why do you think so?

  • you are putting waaay too much effort into this, it only took me a phillips screwdriver, a pair of pliers and 5 minutes.

  • lol considering its a stealth...too much

  • how much would it cost to get this done if i take it to someone??

  • I heard it is like $610 because they don't repair it, they take a new regulator and install it. A regulator costs well over 100 bucks.

  • You're high... it's around $80 if you buy one from a parts yard, new they are like twice that. I don't know how you get from about $150 to $610... If you clearly don't know what you're talking about you shouldn't comment on videos, it only causes confusion

  • I'm just saying what I read all over the internet. 80 times 2 is 160, so if what you said is true, what I said isn't very inaccurate. The 610 probably came from like someone that had 4 windows done or something stupid like that.

  • it's a 2 door car... and if I got mine for 80 and you said well over 100 then idk how you can claim what you said as not being inaccurate...

  • I had a window done the other day finally. It cost me 250 after I argued him down from 300.

  • These cars should only be owned by people that can fix them themselves, especially a window regulator of all easy things...

  • Well just to clarify, I have a 92 lincoln town car, which makes it so much harder.

  • Why are you even commenting on this video then? That doesn't even make sense...

  • @Mitsubishi3kgt Yeah, but it's nice to have a nice tutorial that tells you how to cheaply fix stupid problems like crappy window regulators. I'm not dropping 200 bucks on a window reg. and that's the lowest price i've found.

Sure as hell not dropping money on something that's going to break again.. Especially if i can just fix the originals for less then 30 dollars...

  • @morri908 Ebay has a passenger side for $63, driver for $85... did you only call up autozone and call it good?

In my case the plastic shattered on the skinnier part that sticks out so mine wasn't repairable but for $80 bucks for another one it wasn't worth my time to try and save the old one anyway.

  • @Mitsubishi3kgt When i looked on ebay they were going for much more.. And no, why would I look at autozone? Do they even carry them?

And both of mine are just broken, they look as though they could be repaired. but in either case i think i would still do the metal reinforcement.. Seems like it would keep it from breaking later on. (since we will eventually run out of parts.. I've still only found 1 passenger side turn signal assembly for the first gen.

  • @morri908 All I did was type in "3000gt window regulator" on the main ebay page and sifted through all the way overpriced ones. Look up "3000gt turn signal" and you'll find a handful of passenger side assemblies for around $30-$35.

The metal reinforcement wouldn't be a bad idea, it'll only help.

  • @Mitsubishi3kgt Found 1 for the first gen pass side. good thing i'm broke now.. right? lol

  • its like 380 for a new one and about 150 to get it installed for only one window.. its not 610 but it close and most junk yards dont have the window regulator for stealths or 3kgt

  • Well I had my regulator go out on my car and I called around and found them all over the place out here in Oregon, besides you can always go on ebay and buy them all day for $70, I just looked em up. I spent $80 on mine and replaced it myself in about 30 minutes, if you drop anywhere near $500 for this fix you need to go buy a honda or a mountain bike or something.
