Classic Petra is back!! New album out and tour starts this year!! If you like classic Petra please vote for them in the reader choice awards .com poll
This song reminds me of book Pilgrim's Progress. Thanks for uploading and thanks for your cool handle, UnknownPetraFan! I feel like its too bad that KLOVE can't even have a weekend show where music from the past is highlighed. Church has done very well in overcoming segregation on Sundays but the old AGE divide is tougher! I love great new stuff I'm hearing but its good to know some long hair guys who looked 70's had same Jesus I do, though I was an 80's Christian!
nostalgia...pure nostalgia...but forever relevant! ummphh pure stuff man. God used this music to nurture me way back in those years. Am still going strong today...in the Lord and the power of His might. Petra, you have been the true representative of the Eternal Petra. Heaven's touch has been upon your songs...Halleluiah!
I love this song my heart is filled with the holy spirit when I sing it, I love the line "but joy in not in where we've been, but joy is who's waiting at the end"
Had this album as a teen, was fortunate to see them in concert in the 80's..awesome band and wonderful song. Thank you God for what you are doing in my life!!
THE WAY OF LOVE There Goes a Way Through Life Through Loneliness and Dry Land A Wonderful Way*Through Nakedness and Sham Life Forming The Way Itself Only Sit Down Suffer and Cry The Way Is The Life~The Life Is The Way If You Only Want To Believe, So Simple... No One Can Hinder You Be Brave Now...Go In Faith... (Go In*To FAITH-Hope And LOVE Catches You) JESUS IS THE RAIN*BOW*BRIDGE* *OF ETERNAL LOVE* HALLEUJAH
Many Christian's have neglected to read the Holy Scriptures that Jesus and the Apostles read and frequently quoted. Zion refers to the future promise of "The Kingdom" (A New Heaven, A New Earth, A New Jerusalem) that will arrive with Christ's second coming as prophesied in Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel. Understanding the Old Testament will really help to open up the new for you. Pretty old school jam - I grew up on this stuff.
@fenstemakeram08 Christian music in all generations is really really great BUT it is NEVER a substitute for a relationship with Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit to the Father in His Word. Read your Bibles and pray. I want to hear "well done, good and faithful servant, enter in to the joy your Father has prepared for you" NOT "depart from me, I never knew you". Study, its not a burden, its a blessing! God bless you all!
I appreciate the perspective on this, however the only theology that is important to the listener is what motivates one to approach God in earnest. Christ is faithful to save.
It's a hauntingly beautiful tune. But absolutely terrible--or even meaningless--soteriology. Who cares about the road to Zion (Jerusalem)? The way to the Father is through the Son. The song hints to this. "Joy is Who is waiting at the end." The Son will be given the throne in Zion some day. This road is mapped out in the scriptures. This road will be paved out in human history future. As for the heart, well, as Paul told the Ephesians, may He dwell in your hearts by faith.
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. This past Sunday (July 6), we sang Come to Me, All Pilgrims Thirsty as our Hymn of the Day. It is #777 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship in the Trust, Guidance section. The lyrics are by Delores Dufner, OSB. The tune is to BEACH SPRING, from The Sacred Harp, Philadelphia, 1844; arr. Selected Hymns, 1985. Just thought I'd share.
