Who would have thought the pioneer of freestyle karate was a good forms man! And the fact he still remembers and can perform them means e practiced them at least semi regularly. You sir show the value of old and new. Kudos!
Hi Dan, ... document the forms still done by most Tang soo do people and many many other shotokan people? And these are the forms we leaned "bastardized" over 40 years ago.. Mostly learned from a book on shotokan by hwang kee who then implemented them into Korean Karate (Tang soo)
@purplesaxark - That not the way I was taught. Kata these days are taught more for as a performance art than a development tool hence the hissing, multiple kiais, extravigant faces being made and the like. Oh well, sign of the times.
@LapiCzechNinja You will see these forms with the Mu Duk Kwan tae kwon do people.. they are the Tang soo do people that split off from Kee in the unification of all the Korean arts by General choi.. Many of the TKD people from the old days went to PuGil Kwan's forms ( originator of those forms who still resides in Riverside California)
Those Pyung Dan patterns bring back memories. Those are the exact same forms that we did with Allen Steen and Jhoon Rhee back in the 60s. I kept Basai, Sipsu and Chulgi for my black belts even when we changed to the Chang Hon patterns.
Very nice forms. They look very strong and powerful.

I really like that you are not hissing and stopping after every single movement like I see in today's schools. It drives me crazy!
