@AmonAmarth99 F-16 doesn't have a chute. They land and actually raise the nose a little bit more than their flair to give full aerodynamic breaking. then when they slow down they lower the nose
wow!! How I wish I could also use my Casio camera on jets, too bad our country no longer operates Supersonic jets... We only have converted trainer jets..
Landing seems pretty normal, but the leding edges flaps, does not follow normal posisioning at wheel spin up. Why that? Did the pilot for some reason place the LEF scwitch in lock???
The only branches of the military you deploy air brakes for landing is the Navy and Marines when landing on an aircraft carrier. When you turn for the last 90 degrees of the pattern you open the airbrakes and keep them open whether you need them or not.
Uh, its doesnt stay like that for very long. This is a time lapse video at 600 fps as the title says. Normal playback is around 30 fps. So this is a 20 times slowed down video. Calculating from the same, the plane actually stays like that for only a maximum 15 seconds. This is within normal parameters.
Very cool, thanks for sharing (also with the other videos you made). Its amazing how calm and peaceful such a powerful machine can seem at 600fps. And is the pilot waving?
Id love to get one of those cameras, well have to see what happens.
@Sfatoria Great slo mo vid. Shows what the plane, and the expert pilot, can do with this machine. In real time you don't get to see what really happens because it happens so quickly. Thanks for the upload.
Great vid, Sfatoria. That is good.

@AmonAmarth99 yes, but after the flair the F-16 keeps the nose off the ground to give them more aerodynamic braking

why didn't you show the touchdown?

it's the belgium airforce demo pilot if that explanes anything? :)

oh 600 FRAMES per second! I thought it was gonna smash into the ground at a descent rate of 600 feet per second!!
lubey111 1 year ago
@lubey111 Lol how could that take 5 minutes(counted from the moment it touches down)???
Falconoflife 5 months ago
@Falconoflife Maybe it would result in a huge fire which takes 4.5 minutes to put out? Just long enough to cook off those Mk-82's...
lubey111 5 months ago
@lubey111 it didn't have any Mk's attached. And usually bombs have sme safety systems.
Falconoflife 5 months ago
@Falconoflife and that kind of fire would take a lot more time to put out

simply amazing....

Once on the ground, once was a flare turns into effective aerodynamic braking.

U r right. That y I think this is take off and not landing. The speed brakes are closed!
hotmix12345 2 years ago
Speed brakes are not always open upon landing.
You open them only if you NEED them.
QAFtuvok101 2 years ago
What about the LEF?
hotmix12345 2 years ago
Once on the ground, their position doesn't change anything, realy.
QAFtuvok101 2 years ago
Well you need to stay at about 10degrees nose up when landed to slow down. You use the body of the F-16 as a big sail then...
soundmachine6 2 years ago
Yes.
Do not exeed 13 degrees : you'll crape the runway with the exhaust nozzle, the ground crews don't like that very much.
Once roling, open airbrakes (if not already open) to slow down faster. Try to keep the nose at 10 degrees.
Once bellow 100 knots, you can apply wheel braking. The nose will drop smoothly as you slow down.
Activate nose wheel sterring under 60 knots.
QAFtuvok101 2 years ago
Exactly dude ;) How did you know that ? Falcon ?
F-16 pilot ?
Just out of interest ?

Falcon.
Take a look at my videos.

Ok, I think you can help me with something. I'll email you tomorrow ;)

It's a landing. I recorded it myself ;)

great vid not my tie though
vadervx1 3 years ago
great vid, but the f-16 always does a wheelie on landing; they call it aero-braking, its to help the aircraft to slow down
sawyerr21 3 years ago 2
Ok thanks, didn't know that :)
Sfatoria 3 years ago
@Sfatoria it's done because it's increases surface area hence air friction in the wings and body of the aircraft.
Just to let you know ^^

Thanks! It gives a complete other view of the world :)
You should really get one yourself. It's so much fun.
Yeah, it looks like he's waving, I was figuring that myself when I saw the video :)

This was taken with the Casio EX F1. It records at 600 frames per second. So the video is already is slowmotion.
Sfatoria 3 years ago
Cool, wish I could get this camera, but its too expensive, so I'll have to deal with my dinky one for a while.
Chris52879 3 years ago
Thats awsome, so you can replay in slow motion from the camera or do you edit it from the computer?
