just to let you people know, in the world of metal, real metal, Joey/Slipknot are not taken seriously, they do not exhibit enough skill to impress any of us, and we are learning nothing from their riffing and arrangements that we havent already heard before. bands that cross over into the mainstream rock/metal draw fans that generally dont know any better, and only know of the metal that the mainstream provides for them, tamed down, censored, packaged, homogenized, and marketed versions of metal
I listen to the contortionist, to periphery, to nile, to behemoth, to veil of maya, the faceless and other bands alike.. but i can still appreciate what slipknot are all about, nu-metal isn't the most technical sub-genre and i'm pretty sure slipknot arn't trying to be the most technical band out there. There music isn't extremely technical, but people can connect and relate to it. Narrow minded people give a bad name to the metal scene.

2 things:
1: AHIS has a lot of political content about how things are now and how they feel about it. It's not completely Anti-American, it's more against the problems now
2: MFKR was intended to be a regular release, however only 1000 copies of the original were made to sell so it stayed as demo status.
