  • R.I.P . Magnifico MacNeil !!!!

Grande Cornell

  • Best Bariton of al time. No Bariton was better than Mac.

  • Rest in peace, Mr. MacNeill

  • scusate l'intromissione volevo sapere perchè non avete considerato Tito Gobbi

    ha un'interpretazione da grande patos!

  • The Great MacNeil, my favorite baritone of all time, in his prime he was unbeatable, even here, later in the game, he is magnificent! A True Hero for Me!

  • Marvelous!

  • The finest Rigoletto of the last half of the 20th century. He sang the role hundreds of times all over the world....over 100 times at the Met alone. I have an early-'70s performance of him in the role with Scotto and Tucker from Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires....it gets no better than this.

  • A real Verdi baritone. And MacNeil was 55 here:) --

  • I Love Him, Great Voice Great Musician he had it all.

I had the privilege of hearing him in Pagliacci he was phenomenal.

He was my Fathers favorite singer he saw his debut.

  • He truly inspires pity and fear. Sure the voice isn't smooth and youthful, but that somehow adds to the pathos of his performance.

  • per me dal vivo il migliore Rigoletto negli ultimi 50 anni era Stoyan Popov.

  • debo agregar que además de ser un excelente cantante, es un muy buen actor!

  • Amazing! Is there a DVD of this performance? And if so, does anyone have any ideas as to where I might find it?

  • @xarenir It's a performance from the Met, so you should be able to find it by searching on amazon or a similar website for 'rigoletto metropolitan opera 1977'.

  • EXCELENTE

  • Une des plus grandes voix qu'il m'ait été donné d'entendre.

  • Notevole. Un grande cantante - attore.

  • They would never hire him today. And if he was a young talent or new talent they would not give him any chance. The system is corrupt and disgusting. Vile.

  • @MrCafiero Why do you say that?

  • @ChrisStockslager Because it is true. Big voices are not hired any longer. Nor are they nurtured they way they used to be. That is why we don't hear big voices anymore. And the teachers do not know how to teach this kind of singing any longer either.

  • @MrCafiero Why?

  • @ChrisStockslager Oh boy, I would write a book on that questions. There are many reasons. Look up the article from the NY times titled "The End of the Great Big American Voice". It is a huge problem in opera and the vocal world in general. Teachers do not know how to get students to this level. They actually now tell them not to sing like this anymore.

  • un grande

  • Cornell MacNeil is my favorite, he's perfect: his voice, acting, age. You can see the pain in his face and his voice is fantastic!

  • w-o-w!

  • great!
