I have this game and it's nowhere near as horrible as you said it was. You can make very cool band set ups and it lets you be creavtive. And I do pretty well at the Wii Music Drums pretty well, it just takes getting used to.

All you did was basicly bash the game. You didn't take time to absorb the creativity that there is with the songs. With just Material Girl I was able to make a "Verka Serduchka - Dancing Lasha Tumbai" version, and a Djembe Drum medly with very little singing and base. And it sounded pretty good. Also, when you showed the difficulty of the instruments, you played the hardest song in the game. (of course like you said your capture card is delayed) but still. I ran out of characters.. next comment

As a Flutist and Bass Guitarist, I'd agree that it is not really a game. Moreover a toy to tamper around with various sounds.

However, I find great joy tinkering with the sounds, transposing songs to rock and giving it the fastest tempo is a really interesting thing. Holding down the B button on a guitar instrument simulates a palm mute and for switching Electric guitar for the Bass section, gives a more Hard Rock/Metal sound because guitar in the Chord section sounds way to clean.

@kaissertheswift In addition to my comment, obviously a gamer and a musician will give different outlooks on this. Upon further exploration of the Electric Guitar, simulating Tremelo Picking on the Melody part sounds a bit amateurish, but sounds more, let's say, "Herman Li". C'mon, it is a game.

I would give this a 3/10 for a game as well.

But a 8.5/10 for a Musical Experimental Project.

(Perhaps if they asked questions like, What major scale would harmonize with E Minor?

Wii Music is supposed to appeal to a broad audience and it all comes down to if you find air playing instruments amusing. I love the game and i think It deserves at least 7/10 for its charm and creativity.

This game had potential...........but only 52 songs???? And most of them were classical songs. There was all these different song as styles, but no songs to go with them! For exa,ple, for pop, they could have used Michael Jackson songs, Bob Marley for reggae, etc. I hope there will be a sequel to this with more songs, and lets the player actually make the music!

Keep in mind that the game is more difficult than it looks... by that I mean making a song your own - making it sound decent - takes a lot of time. It can be fun to play in groups with kids or with adults that have practiced a bit, but even the lead developer admitted in an interview that it works better as a single player game. I love the game but you might want to try this one before you buy it! :) That's just my opinion though! :)

I understand how you feel. I happen to be a jazz musician myself (Trombone). Improv was good, and I was disappointed at the lack of Nintendo themes, but a lot of the music on the list was still good (still not enough though). The little guys can be annoying since they play everything "perfect," but it's possible to record yourself playing all the parts to fix that. I'm actually proud of some of my recordings too. It may not be the best music game, but it definitely strived to be unique.

The only thing good I see from Wii Music is the fact that you don't need a peripheral to play this game, but then again, Samba De Amigo for the Wii is another music game where you don't need a peripheral, and that one is much more fun to play.
