Should it happen again, next time I suggest you leave some food & water for it in the bathroom, leave the door slightly open (it will come out when it is good and ready), turn off the light, walk out of the bathroom, leave it alone and stop intimidating it. the kitty is just terrified of the new surroundings. I've had cats my entire life and when you bring them into a new enviornment the best thing to do is just give it space to adjust on its terms. Sometimes it will stay hid for days but eventually when it feels safe it will slowly begin to join in with the household. It may also be having seperation-anxiety as well.My cat will freak like that if we leave him with anyone else.

@impyRM03 One idea--provide him w/alternative safe-looking shelter to hide in, like some covered basket, sm. cage, etc.--put it near by (maybe w/some food and/or catnip inside), leave the room & he'll likely hide there on his own after a while. Then, u cld move it further--to some quiet part of the house.

Cats doesn't react very well to changes, I think he became crazy about not being at his place and with his owner. Once I recorded a shortfilm with an actress and her cat. After we finally got the scene, the cat spent the rest of the day hidden under a table until it was over. And during the scene, he really hurted his owner's arm.
