Right. So how do you dip the pikemen? The tin (can, pot, whatever) of quickshade is not deep nor wide enough to get the pikeman holding his pike horizontally. All the tutorials I've seen suspiciously only ever do musketeers.
Secondly, is Pure Red with Strong Tone going to get good Earl of Essex men? Cos it seems to be what you've used, but every picture (of model and reenactor) has a vibrant orange colour for the doublets.
the pikemen where tricky to dip; so I got out a big brush and splashed-on a load of Quickshade and then flicked the excess off, same way as when I dipped.
It is Pure Red with Strong Tone - I think it is a case of cameras and lighting, making it appear a little orange.
@TheArmyPainter OK, they look good for Earl of Manchester or similar, a nice red, I mean on the Parliamentarian boxes the artwork and figure photos are Essex orangey, and there's no orange primer. I'd have liked to have done Essex but I think (as I've got Pure Red) I'll go with Manchester
Just wanted to add that the regiment brush from army painter is a very good brush for getting models done with just 1 brush since the tip is pointy and thin and good for details and stays that way.
i would say the only problem is that after spending a lot of money on 300 models you finish them all after only 10 days when it takes alot more than 10 days to get the money, but on the other hand great for commision painting to a basic tabletop standard
Fantastic work Jonas - definately make more videos like this please! Perhaps some better close-ups, or even still pictures would help. Thanks for sharing!
