The tiptronic on this car is GARBAGE in my opinion. Watch when he shifts... Total slush box. Delayed, non-exact, slow.
On the other hand, drive the 2010 S4 with dual clutch tiptronic! Now that is TOTALLY DIFFERENT. Fast and exact. I was blown away at the difference. It was the first car I would actually prefer an automatic. Its the same transmission as the new Porsche Cayman
@GreenGoodsThatWork My dads' 2010 TTS coupe was in for service, and they gave him a brand new 2.0T premium plus (8 speed) 2.0T A4, cruising at 65mph got us 44mpg, and cruising at 80 was about 33.4mpg, which is amazing, considering it does 0-60 in 6.3 seconds :)
No it doesent, Milage is all about weight, engine, tires, driving speed. ect. My RSX is a sports car but I get 45mpg highway cause it weights 2600lbs, the new a4 is 3600lbs so it only gets about 30mpg highway.
@banstaman sorry guy. the 3.2 v6 is used in various audis and VW still just not the a4. the new 3.0t u r speaking of is the supercharged version and gets good gas mileage and great performance. last years model in the a5 had the 265 hp. version 3.2 while the version in mine is only 255 h.p.. plenty of power and yes the older ones r governed @ 155 newer ones r taken down to bout 130 i think. i get average of 24 m.p.g. combined and on trips with iinterstate driving usually 29-31 m.p.g...
My dad got me the 2010 Audi A4 Prestige model about 2 days ago for my first car. It is a very fast and luxurious car and that is what I love about it.
I never thought Audi's represented status or was even remotely considered a luxury car but coming from a BMW/Infiniti owner the new 08/09 Audi's are extremely captivating. Every time i see those front headlights my head is always turning, its eye candy. This car is 100% improved luxury and states succes.Just one beautiful car,Audi has finally grabbed the attention of previous BMW owners and Infiniti,Lexus or Benz owners. This car is so captivating as is the a5 coupe. Makes my car nothing special
I find Audi's look like they are worth the money. BMW's not so much. BMW's are nice, but not better than a Toyota for design. Worst German car interior I've been in recently was the current MB C class. Didn't feel classy, or durable at all. I've been in old W124's and while the design is dated now you could see and feel the quality of the construction. I'd say the new C is nothing special on the interior. Audi deserves the recognition for their interiors.
I agree with you, my old car was a BMW and before i thought it was the god of all cars, my ego was sky-rocketed but when you compare an 09 Audi to an 09 BMW its just completely impossible. One of Audi's signature is there front headlights as is BMW. I regret not considering getting one now as my graduation present in June, i am still very content with what i have now, the g37 out does BMW by alot in many areas. In conclusion hopefully in the future i will invest in an Audi.
For reliability, a friend has a last gen A4 and the driver side window has failed to go up twice and the entire HVAC console has been replaced twice. He still loves the car, and I believe he's owned a few, but he told me he'd never own one out of warranty because of issues like that. That said, Audi has a respectable problems per 100 cars; above the industry average and the industry average was 118 per 100 in 2008. Most cars are good these days. 1 maybe two problems issue is cost of repairs.
I've had audis all my life, I've had a 2002 A4, a 2005 A6, a 2007 S4, and now a 2009 3.0TDI Q7 and let me tell you I haven't had any of those problems ever, AUDI has never failed me
well obviously not my life, but I've had my share and friends of mine have audis too and they haven't got any of those problems either, I suppose it's how we treat our cars
How exactly do you treat a window HVAC? Mechanically you need to take care of a car; but the windows? My brother in laws 2008 Q7 just lost its rearview camera last week, and I asked another friend how much he spends on maintenance per year and he told me $1000. He mentioned that they are more expensive to fix too, as they are considered 'premium' so rates are higher. Independent garages are fewer too so again higher rates. He did mention you get long life from them if you do do the maintenance.
you have a point, however I do the regular maintenance or services to my Q7 which is about 500-650 dlls a year, even though now that I remember my S4 did have a problem with the windows, sometimes the right window wouldn't go up :S that's really bothersome because I had to sometimes leave it with the window open like 2 or 3 times but when I got to fix it they said it was on warranty and fixed it for free and it never failed again, every company has it's quirks and failures, but I like audi more
got2boy, don't worry about that. Thats mostly garbage thrown around by German car--haters. My family is on our fourth Audi (09 A4) and we still have our a6 2.7t w/ 160k miles on it. Reliable and great build quality. Very solid vehicles all around.
Heh this seems cool, how does it compare to the 3 series BMW? I hear these European cars can be cramped though. I like that song as well! Elvis Costello.
Forgoten214, the 2.0T engine on the A4 gives it better fuel efficiency and more torque/better acceleration than the 328i. More space (this new model A4 rides on an all new platform, extended wheelbase and quite spacious for its class), better interior quality, etc .....
Depends on what failed. What's the proper maintenance for power windows, HVAC or anything electical for that matter? If something does go wrong with friends German cars (including VW's) it's always been something electrical. I've never heard of one breaking down. I wouldn't be so quick to judge.

Audi has horrible reliability, only the dorky fan boys who have never owned an Audi will tell you there well built. My father owned an A4, the car was awful, it was at the dealership all the time, but it did look great, ill give it that. I would consider a new one also but dont plan on keeping it for more then 3 yrs, thats there life cycle. There built by VW, which builds very bad quality to. Look it up if you dont believe me
overall their reliability isn't great. but u pick and choose. look at the reliability history for them. ex. 2007 Audi a4 ,the a3 has good reliability among others. ur right tho some cars are less reliable than others.
I dont know what kind of crap cars VW and Audi sells to your dealers in US then. But they certanly arent built with the same care as the ones for european market. Hell, you can even see the difference betwen countries in EU. They always keep the best build cars for countries that are in european union, and sell others with some fails to US, Japan eastern europe. But in EU VW and Audi have almost perfect reliablity. They are more reliable then Mazda, Honda, Toyota, BMW, Mercedes, Lexus etc.
NOBODY in that price range, NO BADGE in the world builds better interiors than Audi. BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Volvo...they are never on the same level as Audi. Same for VW, the best interior in its price range. Again, i dont know what kind of crap their selling to you in US if it was breaking down all the time. Because in germany for example you can find Audi A4's with 200000+ km's on the clock and 5-6 years old and they are like new. And they are driven most of the time on the autobahn, so....
Funny you ask that because i am in america have owned 7 vw/audi's and have never had an issue other then a nicer model coming out that i simply had to have and it seems most of the people complaining have never actually owned one themselves i think its just a stigma people in that us have
I have a friend who had an audi for awhile, it's definitely not a car to own if you want to save money on maintenance and repair costs, I think just about everything was broken on that car.
Nice cars, but I know someone who had one, parts were ridiculously expensive. a New muffler was in the neighborhood of $2000- as much as a new transmission on many american and japanese cars.

whats the matter with the cockpit
is that all coffee or what
thats why people think audi is a luxury car
because of the color of the cockpits
imagine it would be complete black
now nobody would say its luxury
but people are naive so pay 50000000 $ for a4 if you can have bmw 3 for much less money
