also , it seems the wall is not painted, as most patch areas are, cutting is more difficult if it is painted with a few layers of paint. and why didnt the guy post the whole process, he didnt even finish doing what he was doing lol
@okbye1 - because you could fiddle and arse about trying to match the hole in the wall OR you could have a brain cell and make it a nice even square which is very easy cut.
@Tarzh you could have a brain cell and do it round because that is much better to patch, like when you patch around a electric box, you will notice that it is round when you finish.
@Tarzh did I say this yet? I have many more brain cells than you...any good mud man knows finishing in a circle is way better than trying to make a square, probably a little advanced 'free' thinking and not just following the stud layout.
@MrMunneke ...sure, probably both would look the same when done if floated out far enough, and the squar requires more sanding type detail, its just from a professional view the round is faster (except for applying the tape) to finish as you can go in a circle with one motion and the inside part of the knife floats on a constant surface, its not typical to see someone do 'round' , but learning new and better and quicker methods is an advantage for someone trying to make a profit.

and you should use a keyhole saw to cut it out, faster and it will not lose any back paper which keeps the board stronger.
