  • Poor Larry should have stayed home...

  • This is spot on! I have lived this as the Alan Alda character, though I never lost it as Larry did. I was able to live vicariously through him when hid did so. Ah Christmas!

  • lolololol-----omg i still love it , this was comedy. unlike the c--p we have today

  • i thought there was eunice ellen and vint wheres ken berry in all this

  • Reminds me of xmas with my family...

  • Eunice and mama are exactly alike!!

  • The funny thing is this is the first time Ive seen this, and I milked it for what its worth! Thanks so much.

  • I always wondered how much he made that check out for.

  • Now Here's a thought Mama you could have used the check Larry "just scibbled" and buy the slippers you wanted so bad

  • i love how Alan Alda just fit in with this family... AND HE DINT EVEN HAVE A COUNTRY ACCENT!!! this clip is funny! :)

  • Wow what kind of woman would be THAT upset with a 7 yr old would negelct to thank her for a coloring book ?!?

  • thats Mama for ya! lol

  • poor larry.LOL

  • Larry, that was a very appropriate response.

  • I swear there are Families like this all over...it's a shame.

    Poor Alan Alda lol!!

  • Every episode was a masterpiece in comedy. I wish the producers would compile the segments and run them as a series with Carol as host to introduce them and perhaps relate some anecdotes about the ingenious vignettes.

  • Alan Alda is always epic

  • this sketch is brilliant - my favorite of all time is the one where they're all up in the attic going thru the old junk. But this one has some GREAT lines.

"we thought it was too sissified for them"

    "Well then Merry Christmassssssssss!!!" LMAO

  • why is this so edited?

  • is is? What was edited out?

  • It's paint by number set!!!!! Ha Ha Ha!!!!

  • HAHAHA! This episode makes me grateful for my own family. I would be going nuts if this happened on Christmas every year.

  • @occles

what are you talking about! every family is like that

  • This not only reminds me of Christmas with our family, but every family gathering. Shrill voices and all. Scary actually.

  • Oh thank God Larry finally had his outburst at the end!! I was feeling so sorry for him the whole way through, especially when he gave Mama that check that was so sad. My family drives me crazy sometimes, too, but um not as bad as that lol.

And them giving him paint by number? ROTFL

  • Encouraging, isnt it ??? lol

  • Wow, he actually blew up. FINALLY! He's always soo nice to that family of his. lol!! :)

  • Wow, Alan Alda was kinda HOT

  • "I declare, everybody stand still while I find Mama's receipt!"

    LMAO

  • I love the Ed/Eunice/Mama sketches, and this one's a real pip. Such an interesting way to display the human foibles that are present to some degree in all of us. Ho, Ho, Ho...

  • I'm Larry and that's pretty much my family. Never a dull moment when you NEED one...like REALLY need one!

  • Long live Alan Alda.

  • love a ghetto xmas

  • i love Carol Burnett

  • i am almost sure he did say hog

  • Wow, a family worse than mine, amazing.

RUN Larry, run far far away! I sure would!

  • Isnt that what he said?

  • Run Larry!

  • Lol

    So much for Christmas spirit!

  • "It'd be nice if someone wished me a Merry Christmas"

"Well MERRY CHRISTMASSSS!!!" lmao classic comedy never goes out of style

  • Ah, what a comic tour du force.

"Oh, and as for you, Aunt Fern; THANKS FOR THE COLORING BOOK!"

  • I can see why Larry has distanced himself from his family. Is too funny!

  • and philip too! lol

  • That was great!

  • Just out of curiosity, where did you get all these old episodes? Anyway, they're great, and keep them coming!

  • OMG..thank you so much for puting all these clips up, I always wanted a compilation of all the Mama's family skits and here they are. Thanks again :) Carol Burnett is and was a comedy genius.

  • Alan Alda was sort of hot back then.

  • that makes no sense

  • It's a joke. Hard to explain but it's like saying "He's good looking...NOT!"

  • oh, I see

  • I remember seeing this episode way back in the seventies. Didn't remeber all the details except for Alan Alda getting a paint by numbers set. Thanks for posting this!

  • paint-by-numbers for an illustrator ---- lol!!! "you get a picture of a hawk...." lol!

  • LMAO!!!!!!!! I LOVE Alan Alda!

  • Poor Larry Harper is so disconnected from his dysfunctional family. Eunice & Ed Higgins and Thelma "Mama" Harper are an absolute piece of work.

  • How many kids does Mama Harper have

There is ellen Eunice Larry and Vint?

  • dont forget philip, hes the writer

  • oh yeah

  • @Pinkstonnaked there's also jack
