Growing up, my dad was in a bluegrass band. I spent a lot of time at festivals and one of my favorite things to do when I was bored (please remember that I was between 7 and 12 at the time) was watch the musicians faces as they played. More often than not, if they were concentrating really hard on what they were playing, their faces contorted into very weird expressions. Yours are fairly mild when it comes to being weird. Gotta disagree with a line out of one of your songs - the nerds do "win" often as not, in the end. Happier? No, I'll give you that. Being a thinker, being someone who cares about things - that can tend to make the whole "happiness" thing more difficult - but fortunately you're an artist and you know exactly how to use that.
Whoever that dude is, wherever he is, I doubt he's doing anything as cool as you are. So yeah, you won.

QUESTION!: Do you know how the process of putting your music on the Zune Marketplace? I don't use iTunes anymore, and i would really dislike it if i had to buy music off itunes,possibly run it through a converter to get rid of the DRM, and then add it to my zune library. If i can get it right off the Zune Marketplace then I would love you forever Lauren

Yeeeessss!!!! That means I can finally buy a copy of Levers and Gears! Definitely a favorite of mine that I thought would be on The Shakes but wasn't. I have been loving the new stuff (especially The Daylight Here), and am patiently waiting for more. How you are not big in the rochester music scene is beyond me, you are a beast on guitar and your lyrics are sincere and profound.
