Uncharted 3 suffers from the same problems as 1 and 2 did (less so with 2). That problem is that the 2nd half always focusses to much on gunfights. I think it may be the worse in Uncharted 3. Still a great game that should be owned by every PS3 owner.

@uncharted3Nr1Gamer If you have not noticed, ZGR is not exactly a big fan of shooters. Uncharted is largely a shooter (although different from others due to platforming and good production value).
But I probably would have ranked it higher than little big planet 2 and "maybe" dragon age 2. I'm not exactly a fan of shooters either.
@caelinnis Hey, I don't follow the hype. And i don't like littlebigplanet, or uncharted that much. So in my opinion, yes, DA2 is better than LBP, and its on par with uncharted. And DA2 doesn't rank very high in my books. The kind of games I like most, are games like persona. I've also become a little anime crazy as of late too, and most games stories just seem so incredibly dull in comparison. Including uncharted.

@uncharted3Nr1Gamer Portal made a co-op puzzle games, and I've seen some pretty good puzzles by Naughty Dog, I'm sure they would have thought of something. It wasn't on his top 10 because he chose his top 10 games mainly on the basis of his opinions. He even said in a way, his previous reviews wouldn't have full influence on the overall place on the list. So he just didn't put it on because he didn't enjoy it as much as the other games on the list.

I am not a huge fan of them, but for a casual gamer like me, having the puzzles to challenge my mental ability a little helps break from the combat which I saw as a breeze until the DAMN CHEAPASS BOSSES!

Getting better is what made the game more fun to play. The only thing I really liked about the MP is that they gave the losing team advantages so that the winning team in a way were still challenged. I didn't care for it because it just wasn't that fun. Simple, but hey...I'm not a critic, I look for enjoyment value.

It's kinda funny, I had the exact opposite feeling toward this game. I felt the beginning was too puzzle intensive and not enough action and I enjoyed the 2nd half of the game a helluva lot more. Having just beat UC 1&2 I felt this game was a little too cinematic but in the end it did it's job of making me feel like I was in a movie. Guess that means it should translate to the big screen easy enough if Hollywood doesn't fuck it up.

I am really interested to know why you think the multiplayer is "boring". You stated your opinion without backing it up with reasons besides the "non-english speaking kids". And that isn't really a reason to hate a game since its not the game's fault. The game also has a "mute" feature which you can easily use.

@Sacreficer They've added boosters and a better leveling up system, however, it still isn't enough to compete with other online games. The lack of a big choice of weapons is disheartening and while there is some customization, there isn't a whole lot. Shooting spread is also ridiculous, and it has nothing to do with "realism" (this game is far from realistic). There are also quite some buggy moments with climbing and the cover system could be better. Uncharted 3 is amazing, but multiplayer is ok
After playing it through 1.5 times.. definitely agree about the story dropping off near the end of the game. Real shame that. Its bad enough to disappoint if you're a fan of the previous stories and characters. Still, best graphics, soundtrack, and overall presentation in video games so far shouldn't be ignored either. Score less if you value story.

Though having said, takes the crown of best graphics and sound in video game form, that i've seen to date. Think as good as the Witcher 2 fully enabled with more big budget detail and less distance due to 7800gtx. Its a tragedy to humanity that the uncharted series is a ps3 exclusive.
Awesome review, i just completed the game and think your conclusion is spot on. It probably depends on if you're playing more for the story/cinematic experience or the shooting. If shooting first, the game gets better for you at the end, if you're, sadly like me, story first, the game doesn't end so well. Which is a shame.. uncharted 2 had a often boring middle section, but ended on a high note.. at least the villain had your full attention as the game was closing.. :)

With that in hand, we can clearly see PS3 has AT LEAST one full year to go. Many of PS1's and PS2's most iconic titles were released in its last year with their, as you put it, dated hardware. I'm gonna give you a chance to figure out the rest.

The game had just the right ingredients of everything in the game, if put too much salt in food and what happens? People wouldn't eat it, they'll throw it away so that put just enough to were everybody can enjoy which came out just right... This is a funny Review LOL! U3 multiplayer is a waste of time, a whole lot of shooting (Who Don't Like Loads Of Action) so I'm guessing more cutscenes are better? What less people want these days? The multiplayer is the most versatile, most creative, dynamic, exciting, action packed, and different experience from any out there involving shooters period. Others out there doesn't come close to change or creativity these... All I have to say is "Wow! You sure it was you that played U3?"

Serious gamers should have already known by now that big reviewers promote consoles too much... If you watch gamespot and IGN reviews of the last year or so, you will notice how IGN promotes ps3 and gamespot xbox... IGN always gives ps3 exclusives great ratings while gamepot rates them lower, and gamespot rates xbox games more than IGN does.. That's what i've notices with games like UC3, Gears 3, Forza 4, Infamous 2 and other stuff

Hmm I actually found the second half of the game more enjoyable, sure it was a lot lighter on puzzles and a bit lighter on platforming, but the setpieces and character interactions were thrilling and the second half was beyond engaging all the way through the end
@ZeitgeistReview well ok, if we intend the ending is from something like chapter 20, there's still about 20 chapters that aren't just shooting and i'm ok with the shooting(i know uncharted is more than shooting but that's still the main gameplay element).
You make good points in the review daniel.. Haven't played the game yet but what you say about the second half of the game being only about shooting is serious.. Its also the reason i didn't like the first UC that much... UC is more than a shooter

I had a great time with it but the game wrapped up way too quickly that it felt like it was almost missing another chapter or so but that final set piece was sweet.

I was scared it fell off like uncharted 2 with just tons of shootouts and firefights near the end, and it's just a lazy way of ending the game. the people that play the game and the language they speak shouldn't have anything to do with if you like the multiplayer. Also co-op is really fun and ifm i want puzzle coop i will play portal 2. Above all else uncharted is action adventure game and not a puzzler

UC3 is a great game I had a blast with it though out the entire game, I prefer your reviews over others but I would have to take part of your context about how game started great and then fell flat and apply that to this review cause it kind of ended up the same way.

It's kinda funny, I had the exact opposite feeling toward this game. I felt the beginning was too puzzle intensive and not enough action and I enjoyed the 2nd half of the game a helluva lot more. Having just beat UC 1&2 I felt this game was a little too cinematic but in the end it did it's job of making me feel like I was in a movie. Guess that means it should translate to the big screen easy enough if Hollywood doesn't fuck it up.

I am really interested to know why you think the multiplayer is "boring". You stated your opinion without backing it up with reasons besides the "non-english speaking kids". And that isn't really a reason to hate a game since its not the game's fault. The game also has a "mute" feature which you can easily use.
Also, cheap deaths? Why is it cheap. Because enemies flank you? I am sorry but if you are going to state your opinion without backing it up with facts then you should stop making reviews

@Sacreficer They've added boosters and a better leveling up system, however, it still isn't enough to compete with other online games. The lack of a big choice of weapons is disheartening and while there is some customization, there isn't a whole lot. Shooting spread is also ridiculous, and it has nothing to do with "realism" (this game is far from realistic). There are also quite some buggy moments with climbing and the cover system could be better. Uncharted 3 is amazing, but multiplayer is ok

After playing it through 1.5 times.. definitely agree about the story dropping off near the end of the game. Real shame that. Its bad enough to disappoint if you're a fan of the previous stories and characters. Still, best graphics, soundtrack, and overall presentation in video games so far shouldn't be ignored either. Score less if you value story.

Though having said, takes the crown of best graphics and sound in video game form, that i've seen to date. Think as good as the Witcher 2 fully enabled with more big budget detail and less distance due to 7800gtx. Its a tragedy to humanity that the uncharted series is a ps3 exclusive.

Awesome review, i just completed the game and think your conclusion is spot on. It probably depends on if you're playing more for the story/cinematic experience or the shooting. If shooting first, the game gets better for you at the end, if you're, sadly like me, story first, the game doesn't end so well. Which is a shame.. uncharted 2 had a often boring middle section, but ended on a high note.. at least the villain had your full attention as the game was closing.. :)

I still can't get why ps3 used such a great proccesor and in the same time used cheap ass RAM and GPU units.. Wouldn't it be great if all games looked like this on ps3? On the other hand only exclusives can look this good cause they are designed for the hardware.

All he said was that the visuals are amazing for such dated hardware as the Playstation 3 (and 360 for that matter) and its true. The current generation was released 6 freaking years ago dude so its normal that by now its far from high end. Does that affect how great a game might be? Heck no not by the slightest so I don't see what the problem is here.

With that in hand, we can clearly see PS3 has AT LEAST one full year to go. Many of PS1's and PS2's most iconic titles were released in its last year with their, as you put it, dated hardware. I'm gonna give you a chance to figure out the rest.

The game had just the right ingredients of everything in the game, if put too much salt in food and what happens? People wouldn't eat it, they'll throw it away so that put just enough to were everybody can enjoy which came out just right... This is a funny Review LOL! U3 multiplayer is a waste of time, a whole lot of shooting (Who Don't Like Loads Of Action) so I'm guessing more cutscenes are better? What less people want these days? The multiplayer is the most versatile, most creative, dynamic, exciting, action packed, and different experience from any out there involving shooters period. Others out there doesn't come close to change or creativity these... All I have to say is "Wow! You sure it was you that played U3?"

Serious gamers should have already known by now that big reviewers promote consoles too much... If you watch gamespot and IGN reviews of the last year or so, you will notice how IGN promotes ps3 and gamespot xbox... IGN always gives ps3 exclusives great ratings while gamepot rates them lower, and gamespot rates xbox games more than IGN does.. That's what i've notices with games like UC3, Gears 3, Forza 4, Infamous 2 and other stuff

Hmm I actually found the second half of the game more enjoyable, sure it was a lot lighter on puzzles and a bit lighter on platforming, but the setpieces and character interactions were thrilling and the second half was beyond engaging all the way through the end

Yeah Im kinda glad i didnt buy it after all thanks dude. I was scared it fell off like uncharted 2 with just tons of shootouts and firefights near the end, and it's just a lazy way of ending the game. I think everyone is bitching at you because they bought it after watching ign praise it, when it wasnt that as good as they'd thought it be and now they are trying to defend it. Solid review!
