Names naturally change in translation. You can't ignore that. It's basic linguistics. My name in English is "Arthur." But Spanish people call me "Arturo." Why? Because names change in translation. In Hebrew, the name is Yashua. But when you translate this to Greek, which has no Y or J, it was translated to "Iesous." All this is, is the same name in different languages, not different names. You have been fooled by people who do not know languages and how they work.

I actually "get it" because unlike most people, I know both Hebrew and Greek, along with English. So I have a knowledge of how languages work. I don't need to pray about basic common knowledge from accurate knowledge. Look into the Septuagint and see how Yashua was translated to the EXACT same name as the Greek "Iesous" or English.

@RubysTableTalk I know Hebrew as well, and I'm telling you he is wrong. And my Hebrew professor, who has been teaching Hebrew about 30 years, would tell you he's WRONG. So, your friend has a problem that apparently you do not care to investigate further. I'm not "arguing" but just trying to point something out to you that you apparently don't want to hear - truth. That still does not change the fact that names do change in translation, and that this does not prove that one name is "real" and the other false or fake. Just as my name is Arthur in English but Arturo in Spanish, so Yeshua's name is the Hebrew while Jesus is the Greek-English version of the SAME name and Person. So the whole argument is meaningless. That is what you miss.

um i dont mean to be rude but shouldn't your main focus be to tell people that the lord christ is the one and only savior.. that theres noting you can do to gain salvation but to accept Christ's free gift... that he died for the sins of man so that we can be made righteous before God and that if you repent of your sins and accept him you will gain Gods Grace and mercy. that if you confess with your mouth Christ is Lord you will be saved. have a blessed day

did you listen to all three parts and look in a 1611 Bible ? For Yesu is Hebrew , Iesus is Latin and Iesou is Greek . I do not argue over this or anything else I just put out the facts and allow you to make our own decisions.

Hear's a thought....you better know him as savior rather than worrying about his name. I call him Jesus, but more importantly, I call him Lord. That is ALL that matters, being born again. Keep that in mind.

Contrary to popular belief, Iesous is His name. The "I" in Greek could and did have a "J" sound although many will say it didn't. Yahweh, Jehovah, and the 70+ guess names which come from the Tetragrammaton are FALSE names of God. They came in when Israel was banished to Babylon, where they then borrowed from the Aramaic language, and made up this Tetragrammaton. Jesus is His name, Jesus came in His Father's name...maybe a little more study on this would help you.
