Bear looks like he is a Leonberger mix, which makes sense given his reaction. Leonberger's are not fighters by nature but are loyal almost to a fault. My Leonberger (Bear) Puppy at 9 months took on an adult male Pit bull that was threatening my wife. He got a little beat up for doing it, but he has not changed a bit. He is still the friendliest 130lb dog (only 11 months) in the neiborhood. I think he looked at the incident as just doing what he is supposed to do. You have a great dog!
