Love the song and Rod's rendition here and elsewhere. But people should realise that this is an old Liverpool ditty sea shanty song sung by every sailor that ever went out through Canada Dock and Ellesmore Port etc etc in the 1940's & 1950's. OK , Rod & Co have jazzed up the words quite a bit but the melody remains true to the original song. I should know cos I sang it aboard Cunarders all through the 1950's.
