dave, I saw a vid were the guy did basically the same thing, ( yours looks better ) he had a guy swear that the usb port couldnt provide enough power. I see he was wrong. can you tell me were to buy the e cig connector and the switch you use ? I used a door bell switch for the one I build, but i like yours better.

Hello vapers!

I wanted to let you know that I have a terrific tool for a pass through battery. For $20, I got a BELKIN Mobile USB Hub, and the cool part is that there is an power cord so you can beef up the power output of the USB Hub to use as a charger or use a pass through!

i made one of these yesterday, im brand new to vaping, i'm not sure but when u use this on a usb charger similar to the ones given out with 510 kits does it matter what type of cartomizer/attomizer i use like low resistance or regular, i ask because after using this for a while i noticed my cartos start to taste different almost burnt (i dont think there is any burning going on)i make sure to keep them topped off there not old yet a few days any info would help alot great mod btw perfect 4me

@hoinhyme It takes 2A to really run a passthru. The little usb adapters generally are only milliamp s and I don't think that will work, infact if the adapter is too small it may even be damaged. I eventually stopped making and using or selling passsthru devices simply because most computer USB ports do not really have the ASS to push them right. The only way I will use one is in the car with a 2A or better cig adapter that pushes the PT like it should. Hope this helps -AMPS man AMPS!

im only using it with a wall to usb charger i have like 2 or 3 and in the car i don't know the amps but i hear wall chargers are rated higher, works like a champ, i think im still getting used to cartos flavor. i never use it in my wall powered hub or in any computer, even though the hub would probably be ok as the computer doesnt power it, anyways thanks for the info

@QCAssociates so i been checking the amp's on all my powered usb's, my hub puts out 5v 2.6 amps, that should be enough according to ur last comment, hope it's not too much, im thinking about buying another just to power my pv's. is there still a risk on blowing out a usb port? it has 4 so as long as they went one at a time it would last a while. i just have to have some sort of non battery solution i can make. if you have any tips would be great.

@hoinhyme 2.6 Amps should run OK. I just hate to recommend using a USB port on your PC when the wall adapter is so much less likely to cause a problem. But to answer your question, yes 2.6 should do the trick.

@CarolinaDraw Sorry I stopped making them after the last sale due to the fact that I am afraid someone will damage a PC, Mac, or whatchumacallit computer with it. The only safe way is to use either a wall or Car cig adapter rated at 5V and AT LEAST 2 AMPS! I do not plug usb PTs into my computers either. Sorry. I think MadVapes has a low cost PT on their site.

I have been considering this project for a while now, have plenty of madvapes freebie flashlights and plenty of old usb cables. Just ordered 2 510 connectors with my most recent order, thanks for the video! Also I ordered a pack of 3.5 ohm cartos. Is this to much resistance?

They sell aluminum flashlights, too. Not sure if it'd be soft enough to drill easily.

The atties aren't polarized.  It makes no difference which wire goes to the center post.
