i was in the norwegian army for abaout 11 yrs.the G3 is easy to take apart.but a little harder to assemble.but still the battlefiedking. next to ak 47.
I have one of these... the kick isnt as bad as i thought . but when i recieved mine from a family member i was the happiest girl alive... i love guns and target shooting. i guess thats why i joined the army
@Klutt337h The G3 is 7.62, this one isn't. :) This is a built 91 wearing original G3 furniture. The barrel was headspaced during the build to 308 chamber dimensions (using 308 Win go/nogo, not 7.62 go/nogo dimensions). The experiment was to see if 308 brass would survive to be reloadable. It's not. The violent action still stretches brass too much even when headspaced to SAAMI dimensions. It's still dangerous to attempt reloading fired casings from these rifles.
several companies make a metallic buffer that bolts onto the ejection port. Supposedly it saves the brass from massive dings and other deformities that complicate resizing.
@milvipes depends on the make. original german G3s cost a pretty penny, often more than a good DSA built FAL. also the greek made G3s imported by springfield 20 years ago are well over 1 grand too. i guess you could make a case for the PTR91s but they still hover around a grand or slightly more too. the only truly affordable option is buying one of those shitty century CETMEs and then modding it out like a G3.
@icankickflip No,the G3 is a clone of the cetme. The cetme's roller locking action was designed by a german at mauser factory,Vorgrimmler. Mauser engineers developed this rifle along with some spanish engineers after ww2. They had already made the stg45,then went to france to build another prototype, then on to spain with the final product of the CETME. The G3 is to CETME as the AK47 is to the Galil. Both the G3 and the Galil are better more refined versions of their former guns.
chicken winging =/ hurt shoulder afterword? however a beautifully accurate and controllable weapon..i prefer it over an AR, regardless of what most people think! nice rifle! :)
lol the CETME is based on a protoype by Ludwig Vorgrimmler, which again was based on the Mauser Sturmgewehr 45. So don't be a tard and say it's Spanish.
Is true vorgrimmler came to spain,(1950)and stared to work in( Centro EstudiosTegnologicos Militares especiales)CETME. But the team developed 2 models,CETME A CETME B, in 1958 the West Germany Army buy the cetme, and after H&K made in Germany from license of cetme and developed togheter, the change to 7,62X51 whit the results of model c and G3
Chicken winging causes shoulders to get sore a lot quicker and reduce the ability to control the recoil by quite a bit. So civilian or not, Chicken winging=bad
Ok the CETME was first better known as the C91 germany lost the abillity to produce firearms because of wwII so the maker of the gun moved his plant to spain. for the ability to produce his master piece which would first be known as the c 91 than the hk 91. What people dont know is the only thing different betwee the 2 is the barrel nothing else. Not enough to worry about nothing to pay thousands of more dollars for either. However, if you were talking about the psg1 totally different
G3 is real easy to take apart. Pop the pins, pull the stock off, pull the trigger assembly off, shake the bolt out and you're stripped. Takes all of 15 seconds. About the same as an AR except the stock holds the back of the trigger assembly in place. Semi auto has two pins in rear and a lip in the receiver the front the trigger group rests on. Full auto version has a pin in front where the paddle mag release is, and does not rest on a ledge like the semi-auto.
interested to see a G3 field strip. I have fired a F.A.L. FN and fell in love with the power, reliability, AND ACCURACY!!!...but it is a bitch to pull it apart and completely clean...a gagillion little pieces. How is the G3?
Man I could write a thesis on that subject! Limited to 500 letters here.. Bottom line is with power comes compromise, namely weight. Not to mention applicability. The *average* soldier can pick up and use a lighter weapon and hump around more ammunition, as can the average civilian. Not to mention the economics of production - large scale production requires less powder and metal components. Lower recoil = easier training + better control = better soldiers on the line. I could go on...
You are correct! This video was shot three years ago. I now center the rifle on my chest, and square my shoulders instead of blading them off. Also changed the way I shoot pistol from weaver to a progressivly agressive square stance. Good observations though!
The stance I use for pistols is different. With weaver you have one foot forward, one arm more bent than the other, with your off shoulder closer to the target. Now, I place my feet side by side, both arms extended, and neither shoulder is closer to the target. For competitive / defensive shooting matches I've found it a much faster way of shooting. Same stance with rifles allows you to control the recoil better as well. It's a remarkable difference.
Not online right now, I started using it over the winter in practice but haven't bothered to take any new video. IDPA and IPSC Matches start back up this month locally so I'll make another vid and post it at some point.
Turkey? the CETME G3 is made in Spain The H&K 91 is Germany Actually the H&K 91 is a clone of the CETME G3 Spain came out with it first then the Germans
You're both wrong. The CETME was introduced to the west german army in 1951 as the gewehr 3. G3 is NOT a separate type of weapon as most people believe, it's simply the west german army's classification, much like the US armed forces changed the names of the M16 / M249 SAW / M60 etc.
Sorry it was 1959 the G3 was introduced, not 1951. 1951 is when the german army wanted to adopt the FNFAL from Belgium as the G1, but were refused licensing rights to make their own rifles. That's when they turned to the Spanish. They slightly modified the design (costmetics / sights), but the internals remained interchangable.
There are still original G3's circulating here and there, imported prior to the import ban taking effect. Check Knob Creek machinegun shoot in April or October, there's always some for sale there (both semi and full auto, if you are in an NFA-friendly state). Semi-auto G3 rifles bring a premium - upwards of $5,000. Full auto transferrable G3's (converted to full auto prior to the manufacturing ban) run 20K+.
As a side note, you can also RENT a full auto G3 at Knob creek - see my other videos for full auto fun. $30 to burn through a magazine is much cheaper than 20K to own one yourself. :-)
yeah, i love machine gun shoots. ever hear of Cheyanne Wells machine gun shoot, it was pretty cheap to empty a full auto FAL $5, glock 18 $10, ak-47 $10, even Browning .50 airplane gun- $200 for 200 round can!
Video is being processed by youtube right now of me firing full auto G3.. give it a bit, and it'll be up. Just check my profile for this, and other full auto fun. :-)
PS I handle recoil on the full auto version just fine, just tighten your stomach and lean in. Check the AK47 / BAR videos as well.
I got a casing dropping on my head from a defecting ejection port, it's preferably going 45 deg forward/right to me. Shooting 5-10 round bursts really sets you off balance unless you are seriously waned.
Shooter: try not to lose your aim as you handle the recoil, lean more forward and maybe relax more.
I agree, I've fired these on full auto at knob creek before. Part of why the shots are slow here is I was taking time to aim on cans - cans which were too small to make out on video, though. It's not that great of a video, I'll admit, but oh well, I'm just an amateur, and shooting stuff is fun. :-)
Yeah, I agree! I knicked the paint on my truck with brass from this rifle, and dented the truck's sheet metal. It also wears down the receiver's outer surface slowly, over time, where the brass flings off the right side behind the ejection port.
i thought 91's had the SG1 handguard, or can they come with any handguard?
