How does Roland not know that they would OWN the market if they just reissued the CE1 authentically , analog, with true bypass and less noise (no noise) for a couple hundred bucks, it would sell like mad!
But anyway I would still get this if I have the extra cash lying around under my bed. Because it just flashes, like the Rotary Speaker Emulator and Slicer from BOSS and makes my floor board look so Professional. Else, I'm just stuck with my BOSS V-WAH and a Tube screamer before it goes into to preamp. And all the audience sees are the cabs that put out the sound and they think the whole performance was pre-recorded.
For you guys that got it wrong - BOSS calls these series Twin Pedals.
I'd rather have all of them in the FX loop either with that Morley FX Loop pedal or the new EHX Kill Switch. Why? Because I find that the whole git mix just thins out. I wished my band buddy will stop sending his git direct into the BOSS Space Echo. It just goes brittle, and it hurts. I just am so used to the racked effects on my rig and still want my main signal to be fully analog.
@azb24 what gauge strings are you using and what guitar/ guitar pickup(neck or bridge) or model(pickup) are you using? this peal AND your playing inspired me to write a song. i just need that info and i will be finish and what are your amp settings. last thing, what thickness of pick are you using
how exactly does the write/select thing work now.. i just got one and i'm kinda confused. when you hit 'write' the light flashes, then ya hit it again and it flashes faster. what's that all about. can you gimme a quick walkthrough as to how you save settings..? nothing i found online explains that in detail. maybe i'm a moron.. thanks a bunch, great stuff :)))
you have 2 download it from the boss site,, first u go 2 twinn pedals, than to the ce-20 and after that click in manual at the bodom and u open a pfd file!
i was just wondering if this pedal has the same effect and quality on an acoustic guitar cus i was looking at the boss ad-3 for a good chorus pedal for my acoustic but then i saw ur video and i just wanted to know which one u think is a better buy. any info helps, thanx.
I tested the acoustic mode with my Taylor 414ce just yesterday, and it sounded fantastic. I'm not familiar with the ad-3, so unfortunately I can't compare the two.
Great question, actually! To be honest, I'd have to get out the manual and read, but I believe this mode is for Acoustic guitars. I don't believe it adds any additional acoustic tone. Like I said though, I haven't used it to really be sure. I'll check on that and get back to you...
The CE-1 was one of the first Boss chorus pedals that was discontinued a while ago... and it wasn't a single pedal (it came out before they came out with the design). I have this pedal mainly because it emulates that vintage sound which I personally can't get enough of haha...
Very nice pedal. I was curious to hear how one of these sounded because I just ordered one. I have several different kinds of pedals and had a hard time trying to decide which one to use. It seems like this pedal covers them all...and then some. I think the reason why this pedal is not as popular as it should be is because it is not analog, it is a true digital pedal from what I understand, so people feel its missing that "warmth" of the older analog pedals. Either way, its nice!
Yeah, I think the main issues that sort of keep this pedal rare is the price, availability, and digital design. If more people had access to them at local guitar shops, it would be much more popular, but no one carries it due to the price.

Play, adjust a knob, and then play to show me what it does. Don't tell me the depth knob affects deepness, this review was horrible.

I hate that mistake! This dual-pedal design is the CE-20. 20. Not 2, it's 20!
CE-20 Is the dual
CE-5 is the classic compact single pedal chorus ensamble,
CH-1 is the newer single pedal, the super chorus.
Even ebay and amazon and online guitar stores mix that, is it really that hard...

Analog or digital pedal???

Some cool early Cult tones there as well - circa '84-85's 'Dreamtime' and 'Love' albums. Nicely done!

How do you save your effects to the memory thing?
had my for like a year and never learn lol.
KhmerNatha 1 year ago
CE-1 is NOT a single pedal. It's a double. One switch is for bypass, and the other is for going from 'vibrato' to 'chorus'.
mikolene97 1 year ago
Yes, my apologies. I was confusing it with the CE-5, which is a single-pedal design.

"December" by Collective Soul. I've used it in a lot of my demos for consistency.

expensive? you can get these for like 100 bucks on ebay. besides nothing beats analog chorus, those CAN be expensive.

Hm, this pedal sounds really good, and quite interesting. Great review, just like all the others, count me as a subscriber!

Pardon me for asking, as this may sound dumb.
Does the acoustic mode add some acoustic sound to the chorus like a Boss AC-3, or is it a mode specifically for acoustic guitars?

You are correct. I misspoke. I meant to say "CE-5" - that is the single pedal.
azb24 2 years ago
Yes, but the CE-20 has a mode for the CE-1, not the CE-5...
