it seem like it takes longer to render then a daylight in mental ray

is it normal ?

It can sometimes take a while if you have the "rays/sample" set to a high number. But it's worth it, it comes out looking REALLY nice.

yeah I'm a mentalray user but definetly scanline its a really powerfull render engine if u know how to use it properly but actually I would do it better in mentalray xD with a high FG values and ambient occlusion would look xtremly amazng...

mine is animated so adding a skylight will make it unanimated. i'm not sure if thats the problem but i've had that problem every time i put in a skylight.

you have to choose the output file as .avi

Yes, you go into render settings [F10], click "Common" tab. at the very top, click "Active Time Segment", and near the bottom, under "Render Output", click "File" and save it as your preferred movie format. Then click "Render"
