If a player INTENTIONALLY hits the ball w/his foot, then it is a kick ball.

The NC State player clearly used his own technique and dribbled right into it. And to AAUBALLIN, the ball is what made him fall on the ground.

You're right that according to the rules it has to be "intentional" but since that is a JUDGMENT call and there is no way to PROVE intent, Duke gets the call by default. Usually whether it looks intentional or not, a kick ball is called.
