Very touching. He was a friend to me in Paris 20 long years ago; so sad to learn of his passing. When I left Paris, Joe Lee gave me a cassette of his band with Terry Seabrook on piano, and he gave me a couple photos of me and him laughing at the Duc des Lombards. They are now precious reminders of his wonderful voice and message. Rest in peace.
Joe Lee Wilson was one of my few mentors that also included Betty Carter and Gerald Price.
