In any case, almost all scholars agree that Jesus was, indeed, a man. What motivation is there to doubt that? also Quirinius wasn't governor of Syria until 6CE, before that he was governor of Pamphylia-Galatia (in modern Turkey) during the last years of King Herod. Also there was not another large census within 100 years prior to 6 CE.

As for 9/11... My neighbor is a navy person so he sees planes crash and he fly's them and his navy buddies said it looked definitely staged. Plus they are using it to take away our rights. Think about it shutting off the internet, TSA, ect....:(

A great deal of the Antiquities of the Jews are not documents about historical events but rather documents about the Jewish communities' stories believes. The sections referring to Jesus are only talking about the beliefs of a Jewish sub group that were well known by the year 94. Antiquities also talks about non historical stories like the tower of Babel and Adam & Eve along with most other popular stories from Hebrew Scriptures.

also Quirinius wasn't governor of Syria until 6CE, before that he was governor of Pamphylia-Galatia (in modern Turkey) during the last years of King Herod. Also there was not another large census within 100 years prior to 6 CE.

and Matthew 2:1 says Jesus was born in Judea, during the time of King Herod (aka Herod the Great). King Herod died in 4 BCE so according to Matthew Jesus could not have been born after 4 BCE which is 10 years before the census by Quirinius. ... How can someone be born during two events that took place 10 years apart?

IF he accepts ALL of his children ( AKA EVERYONE on earth) then he wouldn't have let innocent people suffer, like my grandmother whom I was VERY close to. In a nutshell, she suffered a horrible, painful death. Ovarian Cancer took her life and even her last breath was full of pain. She was a lifelong follower of jesus.. and he lets her suffer. @crazykeyman If you are convinced that there is historical evidence of Jesus Christ then you have probably read or heard of alleged "evidence" that is widely spread in books by well known Christian Apologists. At face value the cases they bring up do look like actual historical evidence but if you move on past the books' agenda and do your own research you will quickly realize the "evidence" presented is nothing more than false or dishonest claims.

Early Jewish documents such as the Mishnah and even Josephus--as well as first-century Gentile historians--such as Thallus, Serapion, and Tacitus--all testify that the one called Christ lived in Palestine and died under Pontius Pilate. Jesus is a myth just like all the other saviors and gods of old. Atheism is the clear and rational alternative to the confusion, fear, and superstition that are offered by religion. Atheism encourages freedom of thought and inquiry, while religion by its very nature has to encourage unquestioning obedience and blind faith in doctrines. Belief in god myths has brought misery, suppression of thought and inquiry, fear, and has promoted ignorance. The human race no longer needs these myths of old.

Love the Bangles, hate, and don't trust Maher's. He was right in that there was around 14 with the same M.O. as Jesus, but he knows wars have not been about religion, but greed, with religion as the excuse to get others to go along with it. Yes I know, I was really disappointed when I found out that Maher has that opinion on 9/11, but I mean, I can't agree with somebody on every subjects, I was also really disappointed when I found out that Alex Jones is a religious fanatic, but that doesn't mean I disagree with him on other subjects, just like Maher or Icke or Peter Joseph.
And Maher talks about all religions, not only the catholic.

Sorry so late getting back, it's true what you say, but attacking someones religious beliefs seem such grade school to me, when there are more important issues out there. The primary reason for religion is control, and the religions save for the Jewish one, are open books so to speak. See Maher goes off on some thousands of year old religions, while he thinks jet fuel cause the WTC to vaporize in a hour. Strange he goes after something we can't prove, versus one that can be.

How can anyone say that consciousness is a product of protein, when it is like saying that music is a product of magnetic tape? If you're not aware of God, then how can you be aware of Love? Facts? Consider the laws of nature - which we cannot create, and there is much to discover. Here is the reality check for you: apparently, 70% of the universe is dark energy, 26% is dark matter, which suggests that 96% we know absolutely nothing about (unless we use an altered state of consciousness?). I accept that the "word of God" had to be interpreted by mere mortals, but I am not prepared to reject the "perennial philosophy" present in all religions, otherwise I learn nothing. Every culture has holy men/women. Find your own interpretation of God's word, and don't be dictated to.

I can't judge non-believers because I used to be one, but I'm fortunate enough to have known those who no longer need the Bible, or any other books, or second-hand opinions, because their "communication" is "direct".

There's this story about a man who preached a gospel of love, so they murdered him. That just about sums up human nature. Even the atheists are fanatical about their beliefs. It may be best to take the middle road, and not believe anything unless your own experience can prove something. The enduring power of archetypes has been known about for long enough by now, and old civilisations end so that new ones can begin. Life rage, religious rage - "...'there will be a grinding of teeth'...".

@jailarson Neither can I, and nowhere is that better illustrated than in Religulous. Maher has clearly largely avoided the scholarly community and other such experts on the historicity of religion. Case in point: The parallels he draws between the Jesus story and pagan myths. None of ths information he presents is accurate, like his absurd claim that Krisha was born to a virgin, despite his mother having eight children prior to him. This scene is LOADED with this kind of misinformation.
