I listened to this whole song and something is not right. At around 1:34, some other bad edit takes over. If the track was considered "awful" when assembled together, why would the band go through all the trouble to record a video for it? Hard to give a good critique when the video is not even synced in certain parts.
I always thought that original version of this song was fantastic and would have been great being featured in a movie! Has anyone know if it has ever been used in a movie?
Does anyone else happen to notice how differently the comments are written when they're for a band like 10cc?? Correct punctuation and spelling are things you almost NEVER see anywhere else. Just making an observation...
This clip is from a Marc Bolan TV show. I don't think there is much merit in putting the clip of "people In love" with this early demo version....10cc are the forgotten band of the UK music industry. When one hit wonders get gongs for doing nothing of real creactivity, these boys who did so much are so over looked. Even the BBC4 prog "They Came from Manchester" showed less than 2mins of them...criminal.
I love 10cc but this is awful, pass me the sick bucket ! Its nicely sung and I prefer this version with Lol on but its too soppy and sugary by half and would probably give you tooth decay if listened to more than a couple of times,I suppose the spilt was inevitable after this, some of Deceptive Bends is very good but there previous output was sublime.
I think Godley and Creme splitting from GG and Eric enabled them to write some less embellished songs. G and C added a lot of goofiness to their sound. I would have loved to have seen what kinds of rock-opera type songs would have been created if they didn't split. They really are underrated, sooo much talent.
It's an interesting track and you can tell that Godley and Creme took an honest crack at Stewart and Gouldman's new song, but it was so far from the type of music G&C thought 10cc should be doing that I think it made their decision to leave rather easy. The more I think about it, the more I realize the split was inevitable and perhaps we should be thankful that they were able to hold the band together for as long as they did.
Sounds like a work tape where you throw everything and the kitchen sink at it to see if further embellishments will stick. While "Voodoo Boogie" is an intriguing title, promising something moody and dark, there's very little voodoo and/or boogie at play, unless I'm missing something.

This lacks almost everything that made 10cc great. Even so, I thank you for making this video available.
