@mastermckay13 , BTW I also wanted to ask...And forgive me if I didn't catch it from the video...But how can the Japanese game start up on the Gameshark Pro without a key code....I mean I am getting two Japanese games in the Mail: Super Mario 64 First Japanese Edition and Blast Dozer...But that's the thing...If Mario 64 Japanese edition will run on the Mario World 64 key code, then How do I know what Blast Dozer runs on?
@AwesomelukeyProject As far as I know, you don't need the keycodes at all for the japanese games, but if a game did require one, I'd assume it'd be the same as the north american keycode. Just to be safe, I'd do a quick google search though.
@micrill50 I got both on eBay. The Japanese was complete in box and I got it for about $10.00, The collectors edition was also mint in box and was about $50.00
@mastermckay13 hmm i might consider getting the collectors edition even though i got the regular ocarina of time grey cartridge. i got it at store called gameland nearby were i live but they went out of business because all of there games and consoles were overpriced
@micrill50 Best bet if you live in the US, is to try half.com, its a sister site of ebay, but not so over priced, got a boxed copy of zelda 1 for 25 from there
@CrazyAkuzi As far as I know, any version should, as long as it works with normal games. The gameshark is only acting as a way around the different cartridge shape, so if it fits on top, it should work no problem.
I could get a gameshark so I could get the japanese Bomberman 64 (the one that came out in 2001 that never came out in the U.S.) and play it! But getting a copy of that is too expensive.
@mastermckay13 I think that game you saw was the one also released in the U.S. The one I was referring to was Japan-only (and even though it has the same title, it is a COMPLETELY different game.) And there are copies of the Japan only one on ebay, but they cost like $100. I think it was the last N64 game released in Japan.
So i got a gameshark, and i got a Japanese Hey you Pikachu... However for some reason the game isnt recognizing the controller or the mic, is there a reason for this? Maybe its because i have an older version of gameshark? Please Help if you can =[
@Mik4MaY as far as I know, it should work, the only use for the gameshark is to get around the different shape game cases, just try making sure you don't have any cheats on. Also, make sure your mic is not bad (if you have a copy of the english version of the game). That's all i can really think of, hopefully it helps.
This is great. I actually want to import the Japanese Sin and Punishment cartridge. I played the game in VC, and while it was fun, the controls were awful on that version. Good to know I can just use the GameShark without damaging my console.
I found my gameshark at a thrift store....and an N64 without cables or a controller...... -_- All I need is a DAMN N64!!! But thank you very very much for posting this. I want to buy the japanese mario kart, because it has the mario party voices for each character.
@baahhhFATALITY11 I actually just bought the Japanese Mario Kart less than a week ago, it came with all the inserts, and a controller (the original package) for about $40, it's definitely worth buying if you can find a copy.
@mastermckay13 Oh! Interesting. I'm all psyched because I found my N64 games like super mash bros, mario kart, zeld majora's mask, Pokemon Stadium 2, all that other good stuff. I owuldnt buy super mario 64 because I played that fucking game to death on virtual console and an emulator.......but anyways, back to my point. Where did you find this package? Since it comes with japanese mario kart, is it a japanese N64?
@baahhhFATALITY11@baahhhFATALITY11 Well the package was just the game in it's box, and a two-tone controller, all boxed together, I found it at a pawn shop near me called Spin-it, they can also be found for close to the same price on ebay. It won't let me send a link here, but just google "Mario Kart 64 Japan" and go to images, there's plenty of pictures. :)
P.S. I like the Triforce sticker on ur wall : D

Japanese OoT looks so much cooler than American OoT.
Aceman599 17 hours ago
@Aceman599 Yeah, most of the Japanese box art designs are way nicer than the American and PAL designs.

why buy a game shark when you could just unscrew the back of a Japanese game and replace it with an American one btw it fits perfectly
Timesteel 3 weeks ago
@Timesteel Well I already had the gameshark, so it was cheaper, and it would be a bit of a pain in the ass switching the back for every import.
mastermckay13 3 weeks ago
Oh cool...Now could you play PAL on an NTSC system?
AwesomelukeyProject 3 weeks ago
@AwesomelukeyProject I have no idea, I haven't come across any PAL games to try it, but if I do, I'll give it a try.

better cover art on the japanese game as usual from that era of gaming.

@mattehFLCL Very true, even now it seems the Japanese cover art is much more intricate than the US and Pal versions.
