i remember watching a documentary on her and i remember her saying she was in a bar or something and she met a man named Lestat or something like it and he told her he was a vampire and told her his life and that's how it got started? am i crazy or didi anyone else hear that?
Finally I heard it from Ann's lips. NO MORE VAMPIRES! Watching this short interview clip made me realize that this great author has her demons too. Many writers of the "dark" genre' have their own demons and, I believe, that is what motivates or compels them to get so deep into their characters and pump out a 500+ page novel in as little as two weeks, as Ann ended up doing.
@myrdraal2001 I disagree completely. They aren't "emo".
I think Anne's vampires in general, but especially Louis and Lestat are the best in the entire vampire genre (ever in the history). Anne's vampires are the most realistic as they shouldn't be just pure evil and monsters (they are just another form of life or "non-life" trying to exist). Her vampires are also WAY better than those of the "Twilight" books/movies (they shouldn't be walking in daylight and vampires for sure don't sparkle).
@12Shilo12 Please don't bring the Toilet "books" into this discussion. I take it that you also want a moody Cruger, Jason, and Myers, too. Have you read a lot of vampire books? Have you read Dracula? Try reading the Necroscope series. Rice changed both powers and histories of her EMOTIONAL "vampires." As bitchy and whiney as she made them, they are definately emopires in my opinion. I call murderers and blood suckers evil monsters.
@myrdraal2001 I haven't read a lot of vampire books, but have seen numerous movies. Yes, I've read Bram Stoker's "Dracula".
Sounds like you have a different idea of what a vampire should be. They don't have to mirror Dracula perfectly. Anne made them realistic yet retaining the image. They were human with emotions before being changed, surely they'd still have the same thoughts/emotions they carried in life. Why are they monsters? Most kill to feed, not for thrill just as we do with animals.

Good. She helped to ruin vampires by making them emopires. I can't stand any of her books.
