Okay, in all seriousness....that was the best performance of The Wizard and I that I've ever seen. Even though it was an informal setting and she played around at the very end, she sang and acted incredibly. I've never seen someone tell the story of the song so honestly. There was nothing showy about these riffs, they all came straight from the heart.

Shoshana's talented but so overrated as a vocalist. Her crazy high belting is scratchy and rough and she hits notes rarely sings them just bouncing from one to the next using riffs to hide the fact that her sustains aren't very special. Not to mention her belting is for the most part pretty weak and barely audible at times. And not that anyone cares about low notes but she really can't physically produce Elphaba's lower register in songs like "Not That Girl". I think she's just riffs and hype.

I agree as well but no one really does. Shoshana can barely produce the lower parts of this song let alone the several others and no one would even think to count that as a flaw. Shoshana's rep is built of off "hitting" not singing and touching high belted notes on riffs. She turns each song in broadway to a pop song that hits close to many to their top 40 radio stations and they love her for it. I don't get it but it is what it is

I think a lot of it is the fact that Shoshana is more or less making a statement that showtunes can be sung that way as well. Personally, I liked her voice better before Elphaba destroyed it. However, listening to her sing show-tunes her own way, and with the voice that she has is nice because so many people in theatre sound the same. She is unique and that's why people love her.

I really enjoy that you voice your opinion intelligently without getting blinded by rage and denial before responding. Personally I wish she'd make that statement about showtunes less when she's actually performing in the show and possibly more when she's doing her own cabarets and such as this and I've never heard her before Wicked although I'd be interested to.
