NWA came out at a time when rap was only about how nice you were on the mic, not your run-ins with the law or the work you put in back on the block. If that record came out in 2008, it would get lost in the shuffle because too many MCs are utilizing a gangsta tounge. The only reason I can think of as to why you would even compare the two is that maybe you from Compton or somewhere in Cali and hate the Unit took a classic and turned it into one of the hardest records out right now.

Reread my original response. Anyone with two eyes and a functioning brain would understand what I was trying to say the first time around. NWA made the song at a time when most were making rhymes that had little to zero reference to the stuff gangsta rap consists of. If you ask me, that's really why it's a classic. It was ahead of its time. If the record had come out today, though, it would not stand out 'cause other rappers are talking guns, drugs, hoes, stick ups and drive-bys too.
