Hmmm they dont seem as aggressive as the blue crabs here in south tx. Miss eating dungeness when I used to live in the San Fran bay area. Its been awhile since I've been crabbing and there is not alot to catch, plus buying them is getting pretty pricey!
theses ones arent even big liek the ones i ate lol. my dad had bought me 4 of the legs at the store, knuckle and all and i could only eat 2. they have a shitton of meat in their knuckles and there meat has a more different texture in your mouth, like light sand paper in your mouth but very faint lol.
hey i was wondering what part of vancouver island you fish off of? i live in nanimo and we sjut fish off the warf but iv never seen crabs that big before! i barely ever even see a legar dungeoness
I've tried it like that, If you are cooking lots of crab at one time whole crabs take up to much room in the pot. Too much cooking time. Also, it leaves a lot more stinky garbage to get rid of later. I have found no difference in the flavor either by the way.
Man, it's better to boil it whole. Don't break it like that. All the juices are lost and those juices when boiled flavor the meat and keep the meat moist and tender. I know I'm asian, all I eat is crabs and I know my shit.
You guys where in a pretty good spot down there...I live up just South of Nanaimo and have seen guys Crabbing there back in 98 when we were down there for Fallow Deer.
awesome video, good job.

I like it that you throw back the red rock crab and the molted and old dungeness crab, I think that is very sporty.
